Stephenie Meyer talks about FSOG

Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 9:10 PM

Was the "Stephenie talks about FSOG" cf deleted? I received notifications and read people's responses by email, but I didn't feel there was anything justifying their deletion. Are FSOG not allowed anymore? Or was it accidently deleted and I should repost it? I'm guessing there are people curious to hear SM's reaction

Ranger Edit: It was not because of Fifty Shades of Grey. It needed to be interactive. There was a warning on it that if it wouldn't be edited to meet this rule, it would be deleted. That warning stood for over an hour. Next time, PM A RANGER instead of starting another campfire asking. But since this is out there and in case anyone needs a refresher:

From our 'rules' page:

* Please remember to make posts interactive. For example, if you want start a post about how wonderful Twilight is, don’t write I love Twilight because Edward Cullen is amazing. Write I love Twilight because Edward Cullen is amazing. What do you love about Twilight?

ETA: link

I get there´s an interactivity rule, but this community was created about 'All things Twilight' and it kinda made sense to assume that important news within the fandom not only can be posted, but the 'what do you think' question goes without saying. Esp. since so many people had wondered what SM has to say about FSOG. Just like the update cfs. People do and did start responding anyway, thus proving that the post was interactive. One reason I made a cf is that I had limited time and wanted to see if I'd made a mistake and needed to repost it, and I wasn't sure when I'd be getting a reply through pm (which failed anyway). Also, it's helpful for all adf members to know why some cfs are not approved, and the reason I wondered if FSOG posts are not allowed anymore is that I do remember seeing comments of the 'i´m fed up' kind.

But, anyway, to make interactive by the rules

Is there any other fic that could have become so popular if published or is FSOG so popular only because of its, er, physical effects on women that have never read BDSM? Of course there is BDSM OF that is actually well-written, but my theory is that FSOG has become so popular because us strong independent women would never give BDSM a try, UNLESS a gentlemanly character like Edward Cullen was involed. And that's why I feel Icy owes so much to SM (and certain Twif authors as well).

Also, do you think we may start seeing more Twifics getting published now that the author's OKed it? And that people who didn't really care about Twilight before will start writing fanfiction, hoping to lure readers bunker baby style?

And to make it even more interactive (no stopping me now!), interesting articles

I said I wasn't gonna do this again...but I lie to myself all the time, so why would this be any different?

So, here's another chapter in my life.  To me, it seems pretty boring.  To you guys, who knows, it might be mildly entertaining.

Hey!  I even made you guys a playlist!  These are songs that came up randomly on my iTunes shuffle on my iPhone while I was at work today (a major part of my job is listening to music to drown out any background noise).  I thought I'd share my ecclectic music with you to give you something to listen to while to look at my goofy pics!

Edit: Interview Magazine has both Stewart and Theron on the cover. There is a great interview inside. The style of the photoshoot is ... interesting. My mind went to a  "vampire" photoshoot. What do you think about the concept?

ranger edit: thank you.

Avengers: Before They Assembled

Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 1:19 PM

So i am one of the aprrox. 0.01% of the planet that has yet to see the Avengers. More to the point i haven't seen any of the origin movies (actually that's a lie i saw about 10 minutes of Thor and loved it but couldn't watch the whole thing at the time. #omgthorissohotwithhistightfineass. *Ahem*)

I want to change this shocking situation before i watch them assemble but i don't know where to start.

That's where you lovely fan guys/girls come in- is there a particular order i should watch them in? Whether it be an official order, you're personal preference &etc.

Thor and his biceps for your time.

Happy Birthday to...

Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 11:45 AM

Today it's the birthday of... my (writing) partner in crime.

Happy Birthday, Camilla!

I began to write thanks to her encouragment and enthusiasm. She's always the best source to find good stories (she's read almost everything in this fandom). She's a strong, passionate woman. And she always teases me because I don't like lemons. So... here are some lemons.

Hugs!

And the Plot Thickens...

A cooking ground for writers

What we’re cookin’...

  • Plot Bunnies! Ever have a plot bunny that needed some spice? Who said anything about too many cooks? The more the merrier, here! Bring your undercooked plots or ideas, and help others hash out their stories, too.
  • Your Characters! Feel like your characters are just skin and bones? Come chat with your friends and see if they can help you create the perfect recipe for meaty greatness.
  • Basically anything related to your fic that you need help with!

Allergies...

  • We’re allergic to negativity! Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome, but please try to stay positive and productive!
  • And pilfering, too! There will be plenty of story ideas being discussed, so please stay respectful to your fellow authors by not using another's idea as your own - unless given explicit permission by the author first and then giving due credit, of course. No eating off someone else’s plate unless they say you can!

Food Bank...

  • Donations! Have some untouched plot ingredients that have been sitting in your cabinet for far too long? Come drop them off at our Food Bank and help another hungry author!
  • Pick up! Need some ingredients for your writing? See what ideas have been left for a good home.

You’ve given us an excuse to use the kitchen for the first time.

So, come on in and share your ideas! Maybe someone will have that perfect plot point that pushes your story from good to great, and hopefully you’ll be able to do the same for a fellow author!

Earthquake in Italy

Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 6:11 AM

This morning at 9 the earth trembled again in the Po valley, near Modena. (5.8 Richter). In Rome we have not felt it, but it was felt very well in Milan, where my son - at home with a cold - felt the wall he was leaning to "moving out". Fortunaltely his wife and child were not at home. Anyway this is nothing, while the areas near the epicentre, barely recuperating from the earthquake of May 22nd, are now affected even worse. There are victims, as many little factories went down. Two priests died in their church's collapse.

The worse aspect is that geologists are saying that there is a BIG rearranging between the Appennines and the Alps and it might continue.

I just wanted you to know that I am OK, if very worried, and Raum too, as where she lives and works is far from the epicentre. But she too might have felt it.

Sorry, I could not find a tag for this. Nor I think I should post a rec.

we hope all of our italian campers are okay.

fanfiction.net question

Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 3:22 AM

So... hi guys. Long time no see. I kind of got absorbed by other fandoms, in particular by a blog I run with my friend. Haven't written fanfic in ages.

I always felt bad because I left my lengthy WIP without finishing it - 'If You Twist And Turn Away'. Anyway, it's kind of ironic, because yesterday I dug out the chapter I'd been writing and decided I'd go ahead and try and finish the beast off... and then today I got an email from fanfiction.net saying my story had been pulled as it didn't comply with guidelines and I'd been blocked from uploading new material. My story was rated M, but it sure wasn't a porno like so many of the fics on there are. Anyway I'm a little miffed because, well... bye bye all my reviews :(

I was just wondering how this happens? It seems so weird that someone came and took offense at my fic given that it's been up there for years and untouched for so long. And it's not exactly the highest profile fic, either. Over 26 chapters it only had 800 reviews or so. Anyway, I guess it could be the expletives in it?

Sigh. Jacob really shouldn't get so upset and resort to cursing.

EDIT - I didn't just get an email, my story is actually gone. And I've received no follow-up email telling me it was a mistake. Alas :(

EDIT - I emailed support@fanfiction.net and they put the story back up :)

Rob on BDII:´So odd it becomes kind of funny´

Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 1:35 AM

“I’m excited about the last book coming out because it’s quite different,” Pattinson said.

“Even the posters. I just saw the posters the other day and . . . suddenly there’s a different look. Because all our posters have been exactly the same, until the last one. It’s crazy. I kind of like them.”

Breaking Dawn—Part 2 breaks new ground for the series, too.

“The movie is funny as well, which is weird.

“It’s strange. I guess the first one was quite body horror-y (and) creepy.

“This one is so odd, that it becomes kind of funny. Now that Bella’s not human, they’re just on Mars now. Everyone in it is a lunatic!”

Meh, i didn´t think the posters are that different from their previous efforts. Scummit´s still in desperate need of a good graphics designer. They could learn a thing or two from AG for instance

I was looking for an ´All Twi posters´ image and found this, made for poor husbands/bfs

Hatfields and McCoys

Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 12:04 AM

Anyone catch the beginning of this new miniseries? It's a post-civil war drama based on a real family feud, and I think it is the History Channel's first forray into Drama.

Meet "Douchebag Jasper", who's actual character name I can't remember and is henceforth irrelevant:

The overabundance of guns tells me this is a promo picture for the new show, but the peacoat screams vampire.

No, but srsly guys, he is the physical embodiment of Civil War-sper. Such nice long legs!

In episode one, he falls in love-at-first-sight with Crystal Meth from True Blood, because they have the same Garnier Nutrisse haircolor (#91 Very Light Ash Blonde), and make their "fancy" clothes out of tablecloths.

She is the Juliet to his Romeo (feuding families, remember?):

Spoiler Alert Below, highlight to see:

They have sex pretty much immediately, and he proposes marriage even though he is a womanizer, because he is totally serious about this one. She gets pregnant. He gets shot by her brothers, then bones her cousin, Lydia Bennet:

The real question is, HOW DID BELLA AND TANYA SWAP BODIES?

You guys have to check this out. Im 95% certain it was originally a Twilight fanfiction.

REC: Yellow Rose, by IdealSkeptic.

AH/AU. Set in the US in 1865. Alice Brandon is alone when the Civil War comes to her. As a volunteer nurse, she helps heal many soldiers. One in particular, Major Jasper Hale, stands out. What does life have in mind for Alice & Jasper in the 1860s?
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Drama/Romance - Chapters: 10 - Words: 37,991 - Reviews: 198 - Updated: 2-2-12 - Published: 11-9-11 - Alice & Jasper - Complete

ETA: Perhaps this needs to be more interactive. What are your favorite Civil War fics? (could be featuring Edward as well.) Also, I have been meaning to ask for a while, does anyone have any Jasper/Alice recs? The one I posted above was my first forray into the ship, and I quite liked it because Alice was not some superficial shopoholic.
