Okay, well, I'm relatively new to ADF, as well as Fanfiction. Any stories that I absolutely NEED to read to avoid being shunned by the Twilight society? Thank you, everyone.

And also, call me clueless, but how does one change their avi?

XOXO,

Just Under The Wire

Saturday October 2, 2010 at 2:51 PM

For a final FFAF post!

I apologize for my hyperactive participation.  I be restless these days.

So on to the matter at hand.

Each generation has had their "thing."

You know, the things your parents freaked out over when you hit your teens.

Mine was (dating myself to the stone age) was Punk, Metal (wore the leather and the chains),Dungeons and Dragons, amongst Tolkien-esque things.  Heck , once we even went to San Francisco dressed in character and rode the BART trains all night.

So The Offspring comes home and tells me how  her main squeeze is a 'furry.'

Being the good parental that I am, I Googled it.

Oh. My. Lord.

I try not to cringe when she talks about it.

She has a character and everything. In some ways it's kinda cool.

I am not hhypocritical either, it's just that....

I had a dream last night about giant stuffed animals surrounding my house.

And when I think of furries, I picture the cute fuzzy Tribbles from Star Trek.

Yeah.

It could be much much worse.

So what were/are you into that made your parents cringe?

EDIT: I found this article regarding the subject.

New Authors, Pimping and Reviews

Saturday October 2, 2010 at 10:36 AM

*waves* hello lovers...
I'm all kinds of nervous posting this, I think I’ve only ever done one campfire before…

A few things...

When I first started reading fic, I fic dived, when searching for fics or even looking at a summary someone's rec'd to me, reviews were and are not something I go by, hell I don't even know what a "sufficient" amount would be. I go purely by the summary and if it catches me. So many times I’ve even passed off fics where the summary didn’t really do it for me for whatever reason but then have gone back eventually after 183847 people rec'd it to me.

Do you only read stories with "a lot" of reviews and if so, how many is "a lot" and for what amount of chapters over what period of time?

I guess I’m curious because I recently started writing and posting my own fic. I've been writing original for a few months and had wanted to try FF for a while but didn’t have the guts until now…

I had and still don't really have any idea how to get my story out there, I post a chapter every few days and so my fic has only been up a few weeks and it‘s on chapter 5 so far.. My stats don't really correlate, either people came, read and didn't like it or a lot of people don't review, which is fine of course, I'm just trying to get the hang of it :)

I'm not saying it's all bout reviews for me, but I’m not going to lie and say it isn't nice when people like your stories. I want to share with you guys and be apart of this place as a whole. And always want to know if people are into it.

What did you do when you first started writing, endlessly pimp yourself out or just wait to be noticed?

How do you feel bout self pimping?

I’m in favour of it, if you’re proud of something, let it be known right?

Do you review every story/chapter you read?

How much do you appreciate the reviews and look forward to them?

And lastly, any tips or advice etc?

I’m shy, please come in and play …

Wacky Beauty Products

Saturday October 2, 2010 at 10:31 AM

This campfire was totally  inspired by Luna's "Who wants to be girly?"

Let's talk about the more unusual and bizarre products you've seen.

Have you tried any of them?

Were they really cool, or complete crap?

If you could recommend me ONE specific product, which one and why?

(Can be any beauty product.)

Mine are inside.

Who wants to be girly?

Saturday October 2, 2010 at 6:52 AM

So I'm really starting to actually become very girly finally at 25 and wear eyeshadow...and actually put on eyeliner.  Its crazy I know.

Since I'm a little new at this I'm not too sure whats good/not good at there so wondering if you can help me out.

What I would like to know is:

What kind of make up do you us? or What's your favorite?

What did you buy thinking was supposed to be good but ended up being a dud?

Know any make up tricks?

Healthy Living

Saturday October 2, 2010 at 3:49 AM

So, after yo-yo dieting for the past year, I've decided to just give up on crazy fads and hopefully, learn to be healthy [while losing like, 10 kgs in 3-4 months...possible?]

...Ladies...give me tips?! What's worked for you? Meal plans? Diet ideas?

[FFA..still..right? *crosses fingers*]

Also, I feel a bit like this when it comes to most diet-friendly food...

Chatty,Chatty, A Little Bit Batty

Saturday October 2, 2010 at 12:00 AM

I  will blame it on the pain meds for my tootsies.

Amongst my many travels in the Forest, I occasionally see "being rewritten" in the summary.

Have any of you rewritten/reworked a story?

Was it an issue of grammar and structure, or was it to expand the plot.

I have one of mine (yeah, like I have alot) and I am itching to rewrite the thing to improve plot continuity and to flesh it out.

The thing is, I wrote it for The Offspring and she's begging me not to touch it.

Oy.

My natures are at war here.  I want to show her how it could be improved.  Even the beta (Ms. Lurker) says to leave it.

When over 1/2 the reviews are more confused than the other half who get by bizarre style, I kinda feel like I should write a 'companion' of sorts and put in the summary "for those who didn't understand such and such, here is a simpler version."

What do you think?  Share your opinions and experiences.

For your time:

Off The Twilight Facebook Page

Friday October 1, 2010 at 9:32 PM

A special note from Bill Condon

Hello fans!

Has it really been five months (and a day) since my last dispatch? In my defense, they've been five months spent immersed in the world of TWILIGHT - something I'm sure you can all appreciate. We're in the thick of pre-production now, juggling everything from casting to storyboarding to location scouting, getting it all ready to go, but I do want to take a moment to announce to you exclusively a few of the amazing production team members who are hard at work alongside me, bringing these movies to life. I hope you'll be as excited about them as I am:

Guillermo Navarro, who won an Academy Award for the beautiful PAN'S LABYRINTH, is our cinematographer. Guillermo and I have been painstakingly planning each shot, with a team of very talented storyboard artists.

Michael Wilkinson, our costume designer, is bringing his brilliant vision to the styles of all your favorite characters. Michael's created fantastic looks for 300, WATCHMEN, and the upcoming TRON: LEGACY - just wait 'til you see his take on the vampire witnesses who come to Forks from around the globe.

Jean Black, our makeup designer, has worked extensively with the Coen Brothers and David Fincher, most recently making exquisite, award-winning contributions to THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON. I'm honored to be working with her.

Richard Sherman, with whom I made GODS AND MONSTERS and KINSEY, is on-board as our production designer. Richard's one of my oldest collaborators and a terrific designer, and you may be interested to know that he also happens to be a lifelong vampire aficionado.

Our Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor John Bruno has been responsible for some of the most memorable special effects ever, with his groundbreaking work on display in everything from POLTERGEIST to AVATAR. He and his team are working intensely to develop solutions to the host of special effects challenges that Stephenie created for us in BREAKING DAWN, including that remarkable kid...

Wonderful, imaginative people all and very exciting, intense times for us. Even with the months of work we've already put in, we're barely underway on the journey, and I do hope to get back to you much sooner next time with more news. Until then, thanks for your warm reception and continued support!

Very best regards,

Bill

What do you think, campers?

2. Sharing fics! I've found sooo many here

3. Jandco

4. I feel like no matter what I say or post, someone shares my interest or point of view

5. I've made some good friends here

6. Honest opinions.. whether they be good or bad, I love that people aren't afraid to share what they're thinking

Why do YOU love it?

P.S I need a new avatar pic. Help me out. I love Rob as a rebel/bad boy/etc.

Friday October 1, 2010 at 7:21 PM

So campers, I'm sure there are lurkers out there within the forest.  (Regulars your well to join in as well X D)  Come on out and party with us!  I know the forest might seem big and vast but I promise you there is always room to pull up a blanket and moon/star gaze.

I'm going to start posting on FFAF with a wacky questions.  Have fun with it.  Don't be afraid to join in.

Question - If today was your last day on earth what would you do and what would your last meal be?

Deciphering Milk and Honey

Friday October 1, 2010 at 5:22 PM

So, a year ago Jesus.Is.Magic, the disappearing author of In the Land of Milk and Honey said that the clues of the mystery are all in the story (what she wrote thus far) and it's just a matter of figuring them out and piecing them together.

I see clues but I am just as clueless as I was back then.

Since this fic most likely won't ever be completed (that is unless she's finally gets around to making it the original fic she envisioned. IF anyone notices said book on Omnific or Amazon let me know ASAP). While I don't fully support it, I have to know the deal with thi fic.

Moving on from that -

Anyone care to share their guesses on what happened? I thought it would be fun for everyone who's read it or are currently reading it for the first time to make it interactive as if the fic were still in progress. With ramblings of UoEM being similar, now that most have read that fic: have you figured out what the deal was in In the Land of Milk and Honey?

I still love it as I did back then but I want to figure even a little bit of it out.

On a different note: person who had this fic saved for a year.....where in the WORLD have you been? I've been waiting for you for a long long time and looking for you for a year and like 35 days! Thank you SO SO VERY MUCH!

What about Bella?

Friday October 1, 2010 at 12:28 PM

Greetings fellow creatures of the forest: I have a Fic Request!

This is my inaugral campfire, and I'm looking for a few good Bellas.  There are so many cool Edwards, he's tatted, doctoring, arty, daddy dearest, maybe he's a CEO, a cop, or unemployed.  We love him on a motorcycle, in a Volvo, a Vanquish, or on a bicycle.  We'll take him stuttering and using a cane, wait out his manwhoring ways, and love him whether he is badass or totally traumatized. We.want.to.f*ck.them.all.  (Or at least most.)  But what about Bella?

First, I'd like to know what virtues you saw in Bella from the original.  How do you see her canon traits?

Secondly, I'd like you to recommend me at least one fic (just one, doesn't have to be a favorite-of-all-time) with what you consider to be a 'good' Bella.  And please tell us what specific qualities or traits you like about her.  Why would Edward fall in love with her?  Is she canon, or is she an improvement on what you saw as a drawback in the original books?  I'd like to know what readers like about Bella.
