I had an opportunity to chaperone a middle school (kids 11-14) party a few weeks ago.  During one of my rounds, I found a girl locked in a vestibule (where she should not have been) frantically using her cell phone to call for help.  It was obvious she was trying to reach someone who would could let her out before she got busted.  Unfortunately for her, I found her before the calvary could arrive.  

I started to wonder, how would my adolescence have been different if I'd had the opportunity to call for help when I got in trouble?  Is it easier for kids to get out of scrapes now?  

This is assuming that the majority of kids have cell phones.  My kids assure me that the majority of their classmates have phones that are nicer than mine.  I also realize that I'm showing my age here and that there will be campers who had phones in school.

So I'm wondering, are there events from your adolescence that would have been different if you'd had the chance to call someone?  I thought of two and I'll post them inside.

Please keep in mind, this is intended to be a light-hearted campfire.  No heavy topics, I'm begging you.

I've never seen one to list COMPLETED fics (of all kinds).

Sometimes I want to wait to read a fic until its author has checked that little COMPLETE button.

I've seen maybe half of these movies and couldn't get into Let the Right One In but kinda liked the campiness of Bloodrayne. 

So, what movies would make YOUR list?

Do the Twilight films belong on one list or the other?

is pretty much me right now.

I mean, my eyes are rolled back in my head and I'm foaming at the mouth. Usually, I don't get so upset, but I'm 99% sure the universe hates me. I'm sick, for one, and two, I've lost edits to my chapter twice in a span of approximately six hours. TWICE. TWIIIICE! For the SAME CHAPTER. WHYYYY??

Open Office is being a you-know-what! For some really odd reason it keeps closing, but it doesn't give me the option to recover anything I've written! And when I'm editing, I don't think to save every two friggin minutes! UGH. Is anyone else having this problem??? And before you ask if I have MS Word, no I don't b/c I have to actually buy it and eww. Nty.

My question to you is: Is there a program similar to Word that I can download for free?

I'm done with Open Office. We just broke up.

And if there's anything you want to RAGE about then get in here and DO IT!

I really hate starting fires to find fics, but I'm going insane here and need help! 

The fic I'm looking for was once a one shot and then was being made into a multi chapter story. I think it was called "Not That Girl." It's about Edward and Bella and they meet at college/med school. Edward is interested in Bella but she's not really that into him, so she sets him up with her best friend Tanya and they end up hitting it off. Time passes, Edward drops out of med school, yada, yada, yada, he and Bella end up sleeping together after a night of drinking. That was the last chapter I remember reading.

And I'm pretty sure I read this fic at The Writers Coffee Shop.

What about the ones that we know are attractive but just don't do it for us?

We look at them, calculate the symmetry in their face, their strong jaw, their bedroom eyes, their Harlequin novel-worthy muscles.

Then we go, "Pretty.  But eh."

Hey Ladies!!!

I know most of you don't know who I am but I have really missed you guys....Thursday morning I came home to my storm door being wide open and some the front door was open...Someone had kicked in the door went into my home and stole my daughter's and my laptops and my jewelry...I am really pissed off right now...Not having the $500 deductible to be able to replace a door that is hanging by just one hinge because they had broken the bottom 2 and the rest of the things that were stolen...Sorry for my rant!!!!!  LOVE YOU GUYS... I would post some pretty but I am on my parents computer and it is really slow....if you can post some pretty of Rob or Trey Songz....THANKS!!!

am i the only one watching this?

So, I have had "Anywhere but here" buried in my tbr list for well over a year. I finally unearthed it and read the entire fic yesterday. It was AMAZING! At the end  they spoke of a sequel, the last I saw on the Twilighted thread was that it was to be released in August of 2010. I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know if it was ever posted? Or are there still plans for it to be released? Thanks in advance for any info!

I am in need of some sad, angsty recs. Without happy endings. Because I need some reality. And preferably something that catches my interest right away. I'm in a very f-ed up, sad state atm and would very much like fics to make me feel better. (and happy things would just frustrate me atm) Thanks!
