Amazon just sent me an e-mail that the new Black Dagger Brotherhood book is coming in March. I was a little disappointed in her last effort. I am looking forward to getting back into the stories of some of the original characters though. Thoughts? Will you buy it? Wait a while?

So someone tweeted this article, which has a very interesting take on the whole Twilight phenomenon (specifically the movies, but the issues it brings up are true of the books, too). While I like seeing someone pointing out the positives of the franchise, it got me to thinking about this issue of "women's entertainment" in general.

I write romance novels. No one in my real life knows this because of the stigma generally associated with it. People are dismissive of the genre in all its forms, from sexy contemporary (mommy porn) to historical romance (bodice-rippers). But romance novels generated $1.438 BILLION dollars in sales in 2012, which makes it as big as the mystery and sci-fi/ fantasy genres combined. So if it's making so much money, why the attitude? 

Why are people so dismissive of entertainment, both books and movies, geared towards women when the numbers prove that it sells?

Talk to me about this, people. Why does the world hate "chick stories" so much and what can we do to change it?
