I haven't read any fanfiction in nearly a month....NEARLY A MONTH!

I've been on my feet all day. I've concocted my best Xmas feast to date in 20 years of cooking Christmas dinner - thought tomorrows turkey may top that, TY Grown Ass Woman fro th brining recipe - and I'm going to get into bed and start a fic.

i have decided. i am going to live half the year in austraillia and half the year in england. the walm halves of the year. this way i do not have to cope with snow. or, in my case, ice created my freezing cold and a downpour of rain. resulting in me falling on my ass ALOT.

So...I spent a good hour of my Christmas Day stuck in a snowbank.  Thankfully I had a warm house, a good dinner and lots of wine to go to when we got unstuck. 

Is there anyone that is stuck out there in this Christmas hell that was stupid like me and went out in this?

I dont know about you campers but, I for one am so glad that the holidays are over. New Years isnt that big of a deal for my family. We by a few bottles of alcohol and watch Dick's balls drop...er something like that.

Any who, I'm kind of excited about the coming year and what it could bring.

I made a prime rib roast, green bean casserole, sauteed asparagus, sweet-n-savory potatoes, regular mashed potatoes, rolls, Yorkshire pudding (which I forgot to get in my picture), and CANNED cranberry sauce :-P   A fuck-ton of food for just 3 people, we'll be eating good for the next week. So what did YOU have for dinner???

A GIFT?

I know you can't copyright fanfiction, but I went and found a website that explains more (A Brief Introduction to Copyright for Fan Fiction Authors), and it says something about the more a character deviates from a copyrightable character, the more copyright an author is entitled to. It also says "You can certainly copyright your own literary expressions." And also:

In analyzing the various factors, the courts have used:

• "total look and feel approach";
   
• "subtractive approach" or "analytical approach"; and
   
• "verbatim similarity" or "fragmented literal similarity".

   

"Total look and feel approach" is basically what it says. The inquiry is whether the copied work and the allegedly copying work look and feel the same overall.

"Subtractive approach" is the same as the "analytical approach". The courts would look at the different levels of abstraction, through filtration and comparison, and take out the non-copyrightable material to see if there's infringement.

"Verbatim similarity" is the same as "fragmented literal similarity". The courts would compare the work and see whether or not there's a finding of copying of actual expressions.

And now I'm so confused. Does this OOC fics can be copyrighted? Please help me out here (even though I have no plans of copyrighting anything).

I just got back from a screening of Sherlock Holmes! It was good, definitely worth a watch. If nothing else for two hours of Robert Downey, Jr. hotness (including a particularly delightful, shirtless bare-knuckle boxing scene). 

As a matter of fact, RDJ covered my favorite Christmas song, and I just adore his version. I also think it reflects the mood a lot of us are in right now.

So I just wanted to share my excitment with everyone this Christmas...I recieved the best Christmas present ever this year!  I was really upset the other day and I had it set in my head that Christmas was ruined and i just wanted it to be over! That all changed tonight when my brother and sister-in-law got me RAY BANS!! I wanted them so bad and the best brother and sis-in-law ever MADE MY CHRISTMAS!!!

Let me know something that made you happy this Christmas...

About a week ago, I started a campfire moaning about my inability to write the next chapter of my fic.  Today, as I was scrolling through bookmarks, I found this link I'd saved a long time ago.  It gives some excellent, practical suggestions for dealing with writer's block.

So I've been thinking about how Christmas is celebrated almost everywhere around the world, but in so many different ways. And since, what I've seen anyways, ADF is a forest where we have people from all over the world, it would be nice to share how you will be celebrating christmas this year.

I will start.

Since I live in one of the few countries in the world who celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve (Sweden), I will be enjoying a lovely Christmas lunch in an hour:

Served with the traditional "Snaps":

Which will be followed by Donald Duck at 3p.m:
  (Yes, Donald Duck is a Christmas tradition in Sweden)

Then after Donald Duck, Mr Santa himself will arrive with presents:
