Cat & Bones

Monday July 19, 2010 at 4:25 PM

So has anybody read the magnificent NIGHT HUNTRESS SERIES! I think I am in love with Bones....he reminds me of a seksi-er Spike from Buffy.

It's like the good writing of vamp books with the smutty fanfiction mixed in! I am absolutely obsessed with Bones and boy, oh boy, do I wish somebody referred to me as "kitten"

So I was wondering, is there an actor in your head that would play Bones? I can't think of anybody, and it is driving me bananas!

Let me know what you think of the series!

For your fabulous time:

This is Matt Bomer, and he is one FINE man.

purple font ranger layeth down the smacketh

Monday July 19, 2010 at 3:25 PM

um, excuse me.

i know we're all busy people and that we're all very friendly, but apparently, a lot of you are either ignoring the rules or are unaware that they exist, so please, do not make me go around private messaging people.  (re-)familiarize yourself with the regulations of the forest!

1) rules are posted using the handy-dandy ranger station icon (the one that looks like a circus tent waving a flag next to a naked cowboy stick figure)

2) do not curse in your campfire.  in the comments, totally fine.  but please, not everyone appreciates your potty mouth in large/colorful font (so i've been told) on the front page.

3) if it's not twilight/harry potter/true blood/vamp/werewolf/etc -related, you need to get permission from a ranger (the ten of us can be reached via the smokey the bear icon).  you also need to put "this was approved by scary purple lady/the wino/wnv the breaking dawn champion/etc" in the original campfire.  if you're unsure, it sure doesn't hurt to ask.

4) this isn't a rule so much as a suggestion, but for the love of david boreanaz, stop informing everyone you have copies of pulled fics.  i still get private messages from the ticked-off authors of said fics.  please, stop bringing grief onto your rangers.  by all means discuss these stories.  but dude, do you really want to incur the wrath of some of those people?

5) if this doesn't make sense, feel free to get a hold of any of the rangers and ask for clarification. no need to apologize, no need to delete anything.  just.... remember, this website is what you make of it, and these rules help keep the peace, maintain the trees, and keep all of you knee-deep in pretty, pretty pictures.

hot, classic, and timeless leo thanks you for your time.

Robert Pattinson Monday!

Monday July 19, 2010 at 1:44 PM

Yeah, we all know-Monday sucks (most of the time, right? There are a few exceptions, I know.)  What better way to make it less sucky than to introduce-

Robert Pattinson Mondays!! (lol...sorry, not very original on the name there)

I'll start off with a fraction of my RobPorn.  I apparently have a ton of this, as I've recently found out OMG don't tell my husband. He's already jealous of my background!

Mmm, Rob in bed is ALWAYS good!

Wet too.  Very yummy!

I <3 happy Rob XD

Mmmm, can't have a post like this without that delish tongue!

This photo always does bad things to me...

I was happily and speedily rushing, rushing, rushing to read the update of The Hood by yogagal and surprise! it's an 'I love you' chapter but not just any 'I love you' chapter.....the best one I've ever read in fanfiction.

I'm not goin to post the excerpt because if you haven't read it, that would suck everything out of it...but I was curious...what is your favorite 'I love you' scene???

What makes them good?

What makes them extra, extra good? A lemon? yea i'd say so.... but I wanna know what you think...

Back to Reality

Monday July 19, 2010 at 10:51 AM

I'm back! Well, I've been back.  Anyway, the plan was to post this on FFFA but that didn't happen (mainly because I didn't realize how many pictures we took-oops!).  So, here's the recap-and a few pics will be in the comments cause I don't want to clog up the feed.

Day 1: Drove to Bratislava and went to the castle.  It's closed for renovations so we only got to see the outside and the grounds (what wasn't torn up).  The church was also being renovated on the outside, so no pics of that either.  From there we drove to Budapest and had dinner before going on a cruise of the Danube.  It was so amazing- I would recommend it to anyone if you have a chance to go on it, so worth the price (I think it was like $20 a person).  We went at night and it was just beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice.

Day 2: Went and saw the castle and walked around the castle grounds and went to see the church as well.  It was really hot so we went to lunch to cool down where I tried beef tartar and foie gras paté (I try almost everything once. Honestly.)  Learned that Budapest is actually 2 cities that are split by the Danube river-Buda and Pest (pronounced 'Pesht').  Hung out at the bar on the corner trying to connect to the free wi-fi which was spotty.

Day 3: drove to Bosnia which was really interesting.  Some of the houses you could still see the bullet holes in the sides (in Croatia and Bosnia both).  Bosnia wasn't the third world country I thought it would be, but there was a huge difference between the houses, much like in Croatia, there was extreme wealth and extreme poverty.  Tried frog legs at the restaurant at the hotel which were okay.

Day 4: Went to Pula and checked out one of the last standing colosseums which was amazing.  Checked out several beaches and had amazing yummy ice cream :)  Which if you can, try European ice cream.  It is the best stuff ever. Literally.

Day 5: Checked out and drove through Slovenia.  Had lunch in Bled, which was absolutely gorgeous.  Drove through Austria and Southern Germany and got home at around 10 PM.

And again, pic teaser in the comments.  I'll post the link to my Flickr account too so anyone that wants to can check it out :)

This post was approved by Grown.Ass.Woman <3

EDIT: I forgot to add that coming out of Bosnia I attempted to take a picture at the border and the guard/police guy started yelling at me and looked like it was about 5 seconds away from shooting me. Yeah, all the crazy ass stuff happens to me.

And husband laughed at me because I had like 9000 Hungarian Forint and 400 Croatian Kuna in my wallet, and a one dollar bill. *eye roll*

Monday July 19, 2010 at 6:53 AM

Hello Campers!!

(do you ever wake up feeling like ugh, omg i'm awake...this sucks ---that was me this morning)

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Mine was nice & relaxing.

TODAY is my husband's birthday!!!  So you can all wish the GROWNASSMAN a happy birthday :)

It was a slow news weekend...let's see...

Kellan Lutz celebrated AnnaLynn McCord's birthday at some pool party...

bleh

*

My main man GIL BIRMINGHAM was honored by the Quileute Nation over the weekend, for his portrayal of Billy Black and his telling of the legends of the Quileute tribe in the block-buster film Twilight Saga Eclipse source

*

Kristen Stewart was spotted BOWLING over the weekend at SHARX in Montreal and posed for a pic with fans

*

An Extra on the Water for Elephants set had some nice things to say about my stalker Robert Pattinson (source):

The cast, namely Robert, Reese and Christoph were truly amazing. Each one truly genuine and kind. Working with two Oscar winners and a future Oscar winner was amazing. Robert Pattinson will show the world with this movie his versatility and depth as an actor. The fight scenes between Robert and Christoph were true genius. Both on the part of the actors and the fact they did the fights themselves.

i can not wait for this movie omg

Some Random Monday Facts:

~The most common name in the world is Mohammed.

~The Main Library at Indiana University sinks over an inch every year because when it was built, engineers failed to take into account the weight of all the books that would occupy the building.
~The international telephone dialing code for Antarctica is 672.
~The United States has never lost a war in which mules were used.
~On average, there are 178 sesame seeds on each McDonalds BigMac bun.

Angst & Heartfail Fic List

Monday July 19, 2010 at 6:16 AM

Good morning and Happy (?) Monday!

I was going to suggest that we compile the Fluffy list, but thought...nah... Y'all might prefer ANGST for Monday, seeing as how it IS Monday... Angst it is!

Looking for your favorite stories that seem to offer no hope, for that is what angst is.  Stories that tear you apart in pure heartfail, causing despair that the story will ever right itself.  Sad, sad stories that may or may not end in an HEA.  All Human, Alternate Universe, any rating... Let's put together a searchable list for anyone looking to feel the pain!

To date, we have compiled lists for:

AU - Lemony Goodness

Canon - All Kinds

AH - Lemony Goodness

Wolfpack Prose

Just in case anyone needs the links!

Rules of the Campfire

1. Keep It Simple. We're not pimping fics nor writing commercials for them. Just the title, author and author's summary/info from the site where the fic is posted.

2. No Discussion. When someone clicks on this thread in the future, it should just read like a long list of the best of the stories we recommend, here.

Remember to punch that heart to mark this as a favorite so you can find it again!

My first recs will be within, like always.

Thanks for working to provide a list of Angst and Heartfail fics!

Can't help but like the girl

Monday July 19, 2010 at 2:22 AM

Okay, it's another Eclipse promotional interview.  But she looks rested and so pretty in blue; she makes some fresh comments.

How often do you glance at a tabloid cover (furtively of course) just to see if they're on it?  I do, 'cause they are almost never on UK tabloids.  Jordan keeps getting married instead.

Authors why do you pull your amazing fics?

I've just had extreme heart fail...I finally have a twi buddy, and I was extremely exited to share my favorite fics only to find out that they are gone. WTF? Why authors why?

I.Write

Oh inspiration! Where art thou!?

Monday July 19, 2010 at 12:02 AM

Ok, so I have two twifics in my head that I really wanna write...but I only wanna do one at a time. I was wondering if you wonderful folks would tell me which one you think looks more interesting, so I can post it on FFnet someday over the rainbow.

Okay soooo....the first one is called: Interview with a Vampire, Fallowed by Sex and Sparkling.

So its a really goofy version of Twilight, with a total doucheward and a snarky, witty Bella who has crotchless panties at one point.

Heres an Exerpt: I stared at Edward, standing there, glittering like the biggest friggin dimond ever. He stared at me expectantly, like I was suppose to start frolicking around the meadow, clapping my hands and singing about my joy of having a Sparkling, Vampire, ass hole boy friend. The ridiculousness of the whole situation dawned at me right then and there. I had come here to be normal, and this is what I get? The most abnormal life possible? Karma is really a bitch that just will not stop.

"Well?" He said, just barely above a whisper. I stared at him for a moment longer. About three things I was absolutely certain; First, Edward was absolutely hystarical looking and I could no longer blame him for not wanting me to see him in the sunlight. Second, we were polar opposites and yet there was an annoying, yearning attraction I felt for him, and not just because he made Orlando Bloom look like a butt-faced crossbread hick from Kentucky. And thirdly, I was completely and utterly uncertain about where this whole mess of a relationship was gonna go. So I took three steps forward, grabbed Edwards unruly main of sex hair and dragged his face towards mine.

"Kiss me you sparkling freak." I growled and smashed my lips against his. I always was one for a leap of faith.

Ok now my other story is called: A Beautiful Lie

Its an angsty drama (kinda opposite of the other haha) Bella is a troubled 16 year old. She suffers from abuse, an eating disorder, and horrifying nightmares. She secludes her self from everyone. But one night, when wondering the streets, she's almost hit by a silver Volvo. And the Driver will change her life forever. Its both E & B's POV

Exerpt:

I dropped my phone and bolted down the stairs. If I had a working heart, it would be racing. Bella's frantic words repeated over and over in my head, terrifying me to no end; Help me. Help me. Help me.

I raced by my father, ignoring his inquisitions on where I was off to. The only thing on my mind was Bella. What had happened? Was she hurt? Scared? Did that bastard of a father hurt her again? Her brother?

I opted to run to the Swan house, rather than drive. And I don't think I had ever run so fast in my entire existence. My feet glided over the ground, hardly touching the soft forest floor until I came to a screeching stop on the outskirts of Bella's yard.

I could see light emanating from her Bedroom window, and hear her frantic heart beats. I approached the house slowly, unsure of what I was to find. She sniffled loudly as I skittered up the tree and slipped through her open window.

Bella sat motionless on her bed, staring silently at the door in front of her. I stared at her for a long moment, wondering if she had heard my arrival.
The silence was heavy, weighing down on my chest like a ton of pure iron, but I dared not break it. She was a scared animal, I would only scare her off. The tears on Bella's cheeks were beginning to dry, as she had made no move to wipe them away. Her eyes stayed glued to the door, as if she expected someone to come barging in, with more cruel punishments for the innocent girl. I swallowed and sat on the bed next to her, hyper aware of the way it creaked under my weight. Bella didn't bat eyes at the motion.
Finally, after an immeasurable amount of time, my precious love spoke. "I want to die, Edward. I really just want to die."

Okay, so tell me which one I should work on first! Thanks! I will telepathically shower you with goodness and chocolate!

One-Shot contests

Sunday July 18, 2010 at 9:58 PM

Well Hi-diddly-ho fellow campers. I'm a newbie (been viewing the landscape from afar for a while now) and I was wanting to know if anyone can tell me where I can find competitions or even just "for fun" places for twilight one shot ideas? I have quite a few little fantasies rolling around in my head and would like to put them out there for reading, if only to see if I can write as well as I imagine in my head! Any help will be dearly appreciated!

Books that are similar to fanfiction

Sunday July 18, 2010 at 6:39 PM

Hi, I’m Sarah or 00fresh whatever you want to call me. I’m new on here, and not sure if I’m doing this right.

But I wanted to know if there are any real books out there with lemons and younger people in them. Most of the mature romance novels that I’ve read were my mother’s, like Danielle Steel , which I’m not a huge fan.
I’m looking for books that are similar to fanfictions, smut and angst, but don’t know where to start. Anyone know of any good romance books that are for younger adults, but not teens?

This is my first campfire, I was trying to find the rules on them not sure where to find them, but if this is incorrect, by all means delete it, lol. Thanks :)
