Pride and Prejudice Recs

Friday May 31, 2013 at 5:58 PM

Hope it's still FFA. I have no idea about any other fanfic unirverse except Twilight of course. Recently, I came across Jandco's rec of P&P's The Final Indignity

and loved it. I tried looking for similar fics in that website but frankly that forum confused me, plus I don't know who are good writers in that fanfic universe. So, can all you lo lovely people please rec me some well written(and popular) P&P fanfic? For now, I just want Elizabeth and Darcy. Smut is fine with me :D But has to be good writing like that of The Final Indignity. Thanks a lot in advance.

Much better week. Thanks for all of the well-wishes. They really helped! xoxoxox

If you have amnesia about a fic, this is the place to ask about it!

If you have a request for a type of story or a book, this is your spot.

If you are unsure about something that has to do with ADF, ask here.

If you are unsure about something that DOES NOT have to do with ADF, ask here as well!

If you have requests, questions or amnesia about any other areas in your life we like to answer those as well. I don't care if you want to know about something more personal. We won't judge.

This is your campfire. Ask away! Many people like to answer!

Catching Fire Poster and Cannes Fashion

Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 12:06 PM

Soooo, I realize the poster has been up for a few weeks now, but I kept forgetting to light a CF about it.  I've heard some say that Katniss' clothing is too fashion forward for her, but I think that's the point.  This is, after all, her second time around and she has Cinna.

What do you think about the poster?  Does it get you excited to see the movie?  What part of the film are you most looking forward to?

On another note, here is Jennifer Lawrence at Cannes last week:

Personally, I think she looks gorgeous.  What do you think?  Any other fashion hits from Cannes?  Or any film shown at Cannes  you're looking forward to seeing?

In case this isn't interactive enough with all the above questions, feel free to rec any new  and good HG FF.  I think I've read all the ones that have been recc'd here at ADF in the past.

(Also, I hope my tags show up--they were there and seemed to have disappeared when I added the third pic...)

Welcome to the Monday Morning Hot Guy Campfire. What better way to start your week than a hot guy?

Every Monday, I'm going to dedicate a CF to the Hot Guy of the Week. The catch? The CF can ONLY be about the current nominated guy.

We all have different tastes in men, so please don't yuck anyone's yum. If you have a man you'd like to see crowned for the week, PM or hit me up on twitter (@ffcherry) with his name.

Pretty

Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 3:00 AM

I just saw these lovely pics of Rob over at Robsessed. (The girls posted the pics that they have as their cell phone wallpapers). And I thought they were fantastic pics and I don't think I've ever seen them before...

I dont' think we're had a pretty Rob post in a very long time so ...how about we make this a:

"Post your Pretty Rob pics" Campfire!

(I also would not be opposed to pics of other hotties like Ian Somerhalder and anyone else who floats your boat!)

Fanfic writer on BBC news

Monday May 27, 2013 at 8:18 PM

Anyone know this gal or her author name?

The BBC spoke to Jen West, Naomi Novik and Francesca Coppa, three fan fiction authors in New York.

Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22630814  BBC won't give an embed code for the video.

It's always good to hear intelligent women speak of fanfic, hurrah!

The reportage touches upon the pros and cons of Amazon's new foray into fanfic-for-profit, but it is not an in-depth discussion.

IN other writing/film news:  Death Comes to Pemberley, which is basically Jane Austen fanfic, is being made into a film, with Matthew Rhys as Darcy.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/10081280/Matthew-Rhys-to-revive-Colin-Firths-Mr-Darcy.html

Anyone know this Mr. Rhys?  He is in an FX show called 'The Americans'.

And, finally, a 'cash-strapped' computer programmer in the UK, Seth Patrick, just got £750,000 (about $1.5million) for his debut crime novel. Woo hoo for first time novelists!   Film rights have been sold, too.  When asked who he wants to play the lead, he commented:  'My wife is keen on Robert Pattinson.'   LOL.  Me too, honey.   Link to The Sunday TImes article

It's like a crossover fanfic but not really..

Monday May 27, 2013 at 3:07 PM

Sorry for the rather vague title, but lately I'm looking for fanfics that remind you of another fandom. Maybe Edward/Bella with the rest of the gang are entered into an all-or-nothing battle of death with only one victor that reminds you vaguely of The Hunger Games. Or maybe everyone has awesome superpowers that reminds you of X-men when they band together and kick some villian butt. Or perhaps there's some Harry Potter-equse elements where the characters are in a school for the magically-gifted.

To make this interactive also, what fandoms do you also want to see Twilight make reference to in fanfiction? Personally, I'm still waiting for the day where I find a good twilight fanfiction where Edward is a demi-god (like in Percy Jackson) or a bender (like in the Last Airbender series). How about you guys?

What makes you decide if you'll read a story?

Monday May 27, 2013 at 5:08 AM

Got your attention now?

Say you see a rec, the plot seems right up your alley, and you click on the link. Then what? I always check out the authors' favorites. If she's got too many stories I don't like writing-wise (or just too manys tories) I usually don't even give it a try.

Anyone else as weird picky as me?
