My heart is actually broken. I started reading a Harry Potter fic (The Life and Times by Jewels5) without realizing it wasn't complete (shame on me!). It hasn't updated since October 2012, and all I can think about is what's going to happen.

What fics do you guys want to update? Also, the rec should be obvious. (The Life and Times by Jewels5), and if you wanted to help me encourage Jewels5 to update in the near future, it'd be greatly appreciated!!

So my Toshiba of nearly five years is showing signs of kicking the bucket, and I've been contemplating on a replacement. Trouble is, I can't decide on which. I've narrowed it down to either a Mac or Dell.

To all my tech campers- SOS!!!

TBH, I'm leaning towards a mac. Windows always seemed to cause problems in the past for my family, mostly virus-related, and I want to try a new avenue.

So give it to me straight! Pros and cons, personal experiences, anything you can think of! I'm looking for travel durability, strong resistance to viruses, long battery life, fast internet, and reasonable cost. Lay it on me!!!

When I mentioned in an earlier campfire that I was doing this business trip/vacation combo to Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna, ranger LJ Summers said I should take pictures and post them in a FFA campfire. So that’s what I’m doing.

Ah, so I was thinking someone would have put this up there by now, as I am not a huge Kristen fan.  However, I looked, because I want to observe her every facial expression and see if she is yearning for Rob see what she was wearing.  She likes this designer, Zuhair Murad.

And this one, the other day at the Chanel Show.  I really liked this one, gloves included.  It was discussed below in the daily gossip campfire if you're interested.

Do you wear strapless tops/dresses?  Do you feel self-conscious and are always checking for a nipslip? Or are you cool with it?

Maybe it's a sore subject that so many fics are now bestselling "real books." But here's one amusing side effect-- the publishers have provided pro audiobooks! I discovered some sample clips on amazon, and at times it's quite silly that fic-language is being spoken aloud by voice actors. Sometimes the things that grace the pixels of fanfiction.net sound a little funny when said by a real human voice.

People, there are no words. I had VERY high standards, and they totally exceeded them. I remember reading posts (including on ADF) on how good they were, and thinking people were exagerating.  For that, I publically apologize. There's no way these people, esp. of course Matt, could be overrated. I can't believe I've gone from thinking Muse must be a very boring band (I hated Supermassive Black Hole, and that was their only song I knew, all because of Twilight) to stressing out about how to gather money to go see them again. I want to take my 10 and 8 year old children too. Even more spectacular than Disneyland or Universal Studios or whatever. But, really, don't let the pics and the special effects fool you. It's this guy's talent, voice and guitar and piano playing skills that give you goosebumps. I'm in AWE. And they didn't even play any of my Top5 Muse songs.

To make it interactive, has anyone seen such spectacular special effects in other concerts as well? The only one I can think of is the opeing of the Brits awards this year, and even that was done by Muse. Also, from what age could you bring children to such shows?

Sooo how's everyone doing? 

As the title per say, how do ya'll feel about fics where the romance between E/B develop as a subplot as a result of the main plot? Where there's a more pressing concern driving the story, and E/B gradually happens as they spent more time together/get to know each other sort of thing. Personally, I love those kinds of fics! I've read a lot of fics where the main focus is just getting those two together or about their romantic relationship, and while loved a lot of them, I'm looking for something different now. And I mean sort of like in "And With Thee Fade Away", "A Thousand Leaves", "Breaking News", "Empire of the Minds", and "Elemental", where they do get together eventually, but in essence, that's not what the story is about. 

So in the comments, tell me about what you think of these types of fics and what "genres" would you like to see more in the fandoms. And if you could, please recommend a couple of fics that has romance but has a greater purpose to the fic also (I will love you forever ^^). I'm a big fan of mystery/suspense with romance attached, but opened to all other genres! AH or AU doesn't matter, as long as it's well-written and completed (or on the road to being completed in the future).

There's a lot of things in this world I don't get. Mainly, silly pop culture stuff and fashion. Oh and Facebook, Twitter. I just don't understand the obsession or the purpose is lost on me. We had a campfire like this ages ago and thought it would be fun to do one again.

What are some things that you don't get? What leaves you mystified?

starting now until midnight eastern this sunday, we will be taking your proposals to make weekly posts here on ADF- mainly the weekly rec, pimp it, amnesia, and help desk campfires, but we're also taking suggestions for any ideas you might have. we love our weekly posts and appreciate the people who do them on a regular basis- so how'd you like to be one of those campers who help out?

the rules are simple: you send us a proposal, and we'll pick the ones that we feel are best representative of the forest. we'll offer the post to you, then you and the rangers will work together to figure out the best day to post it.

then you start making the post. every week. from here on out.

to participate, here's what you do:

-send an email to dearwtvoc@gmail.com using the following format:

• your ADF username
• if you're going for one of the four, include the name of the campfire: either help desk, weekly rec, amnesia, or pimp it
• if not, give us the title of your proposed campfire with a brief description of what it would be about
• show us your post (see below for instructions)
• send this email before midnight eastern this sunday.
• you may apply for more than one weekly campfire, if you wish.
• do not fret if you skip a week or do not want to keep doing it after a while- i'm a fair guy and i'm not scary, you can just tell me! god and the rangers know, we all have lives.

that's it! now, a detail: in order to show us your campfire, this is the format in which you must send it: 

• it must look like a sample campfire of the weekly subject you are submitting for
• if you would like the graphics for the weekly rec, help desk, or pimp it, either PM me or click on the tag for that post and copy the graphic from there. if you are creating a brand new campfire, you may create your own graphic for it! if you do not have skillz, i recommend you either solicit for someone to create you one using this campfire, or you can let us know in the email that you are an untalented hack (like me) and will need help with it. we have people for that, darling.
• you may use anything you like- pictures, videos, music, sparkles, fonts, sarcasm; whatever you'd use in a regular post. try to keep it as clean-looking as possible- too much color differentiation, too many pictures, too much anything is not always desirable. we want to read your words, and we want our eyes to be pleased!
• it must be sent in html. if you wish, you can format the campfire on ADF, then hit "source" and copy-all the entire html code from there. that's how i would do it, but if you speak fluent html, then by all means. we rangers will be testing your proposals in much the same fashion.
• if you have more than one proposal, please send a separate email for each.
• make sure you're following the rules for posting.

now, i've included the tags for these campfires so that you can easily find what they look like. we're all very excited to see what you guys come up with. get creative! bust out your great ideas! and good luck!
