Hi everybody, since it is free for all, I want to share my musings. I went to see Man of Steel a couple of days ago. (Alone, as my husband’s quota of blockbusters was exhausted already – he humors me once a year – and my BBF was not available. Well, I had fun, particularly because all the obvious “shy Clark Kent and never tell Lois” was avoided. Almost a prequel and good. My problem is Henry Cavill. I mean, he has a body to die for, but a rather uninteresting face. Plus, he is as expressive as a soda can. (Three expressions, basically, smile, irate smirk and flat).
No biggie, one doesn’t go to see Superman looking for award winning performances (albeit the two ‘fathers’ were acting well).
The film, in his genre, had rather good reviews and nobody, I mean nobody, remarked on Cavill’s acting skills. What happened in your countries?
On the contrary, Robert Pattinson has been berated as an actor in all his films, at least before Cosmopolis. This makes me SO MAD. Why it is so and what will happen now that he is choosing even minor roles with good directors? Will he stop to be a critics’ object of hate/derision or will he be simply ignored? What do you think?
Here is a rec. even if not needed. I am reading with pleasure Rare Purity by Ta Paixao (WIP-20 chapters so far, updates often)
Summary Every communicable disease, every illness contracted by humans has soiled the blood supply a little further. Vampires seek only the purest sources of untainted blood. And among the highest order of the undead, a rumor persists of a superior race of human - a rare mutation that renders them immune to illness. In Forks, Edward finds the proof in a peculiar girl. B/EPOV. Lemons.
