Recommendation:

I've been putting off reading the end of Beneath this Sky because I really don't want it to end. 

I seriously think I might cry, not because it's sad (though it might be, how would I know since I haven't read it?!) but because it's ending. 

This, after reading comments from some people that suggest there are no more good stories/well-written fics out there. 

WHAT? lol. I want to tell these people that personal preference and not finding a story that interests you is not the same thing as no more quality writing. 

This fandom is full of quality writing. Still. Every day.

Quality writing is creating well-rounded, dynamic characters; setting a tone that either mirrors or contrasts with the story; a consistent, strong voice; setting good, visual scenes; believable dialogue; consistent characters who grow (or don't grow, depending on the intention); finding the right words to string together to get the point across without having to do too much "telling"; holding back the prose (good editing), even when it's difficult; depth and layers of character and/or plot...   

I could go on, but I won't. The point is, I see stories that have all of this and more. Stories that sometimes make me think: "Why is this person wirting fanfiction and not publishing a million things?" And even at times when I don't finish a story because the plot is not for me, I can't deny that the writing is wonderful. 

So... I suppose this campfire has two objectives. 

1. What is good writing to you? Link to a recent story (WIP or complete) or two that you think is/are an example of quality writing. 

2. Has there ever been a story that you did not want to end? that you still wish would continue in some way be it by epilogue, future-take, or sequel? Was it the plot you wanted to see more of? Characters you did not want to let go of?

I don't have the name. I just have like a little summary of the story. It goes like this:

Edward becomes a famous star movie (not 100% sure he could be a singer) anyways he is from a small town of forks but as he becomes famous he stops communicating with his parents and friends and BFF Bella one day Edward gets bad news from his doctor he has cancer and he gives up his star life to go home and make amends with his family he brings his agent / friend Emmett with him I know when he goes home Bella is really pissed at him and he finds it hard to win her over that's all I can remember can anyone help?

Please, I'm dying to read this story and no one seems to know... :(

Fifty has its director!

E L James, the author of the best selling franchise Fifty Shades of Grey, has remained tight-lipped about the upcoming film adaptation – until now.

On Wednesday, James, 50, revealed on Twitter that the movie had finally found its director.

"I'm delighted & thrilled to let you guys know that Sam Taylor-Johnson has agreed to direct the film of Fifty Shades of Grey," James Tweeted.

Taylor-Johnson, 46, – who is also professionally known as Sam Taylor-Wood – made her directorial debut in 2008 with Nowhere Boy, a film about John Lennon's childhood.

Her relationship with that film's 23-year-old star, Aaron Johnson, made headlines when the couple tied the knot in 2012 despite a 23-year age difference. She also directed a short film called Daydream which starred Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders's ex-wife, Liberty Ross.

As far as who will play Shades's leading roles, Alex Pettyfer has reportedly shot an audition scene, while Emma Watson denied rumors she'd been cast as the stunning but impressionable Anatasia Steele.

I'll try once again to do these once a week based on the turnout. They were kind of slow for a while so I am hoping that we are ready to read new things!

I've been re-reading it and I was hoping I'd finish it before making this post, but I'm not sure if I actually will. I remember discovering that story when it had like 200 reviews and pimping it out so hard omg. But then the purple prose took over. Also, I found that Edward too manipulative and just cruel towards Bella when they were younger, and that Bella too cruel towards Michael (though I'm probably the only one that didn't hate him).

HOWEVER: I do see why it's considered the best Twific. The first chapters were simply amazing. Bella running barefoot was the epitome of well-written angst. You could just feel her emotional and physical pain. And of course there's the Esme story as well. The author's so talented. Always wrote the loveliest review replies, too.

So, what did you think of TB&TC?

Looking for some assistance and Camper Creativity!  My Best Friend's daughter recently volunteered her to be the fundraising coordinator for the high school cheerleaders.  I have been wrangled in to help.  She has to come up with one fundraiser per month for the entire year!  And, it cannot be the same fundraiser as any of the other groups in school at the same time. I guess they don't want competitive selling within the school.  We need some original ideas that high school girls will actually participate in.  So far, we've thought of the Pink Flamingo Flocking, car wash for the summer months, Krispy Kreme donuts, and candy bars.  I know campers here have great ideas, so anything would help. Thanks!
