BEARDS. Yay or nay?

Saturday September 14, 2013 at 9:28 PM

I think the Rob-loving campers here have been admirably restrained, making Rob-comments discreetly nestled in the daily gossip campfire despite the Dior deluge.  I am sure the Rob-meh-whatever campers have enjoyed the break..

BUT IT'S FREE FOR ALL WEEKEND AND SO HERE HE IS, MY BEARDY BABE-A-LICIOUS MANHUNK.

New picture:

To make this interactive:  Do you like men with beards?  Soul-patch, neatly-sculpted, or wild loose and free?  Or no way, no thanks?

My husband has never grown a moustache or beard, so I don't even know if it hurts when being kissed by a bearded guy.  Scruff hurts a bit, but beards are softer, true?

The curse of ANs

Friday September 13, 2013 at 9:29 PM

I think I'm getting crankier in my older age but, geez louise, I am really getting irritated by author notes lately.

It's the tone of the author note that so frequently completely ruins the the story.   You've got this perfectly tragic chapter and the AN opens with "SQUEE, OMG I can't believe ...."  and then it goes on, this hyperbolic return to middle school bathroom chatter that I didn't even like when I was in middle school.  (Acutally, I went to Junior High before they invented Middle Schools.  Old.  I am. Old.)

Please, authors,  stop ruining your stories like this.

I had to learn this myself.  ANs can enhance your story by providing historical, or geographical background.  They can be nice venues to thank those who help you write and post.  But a sincere, "Thanks to my beta and to my wonderful readers" is fine--it's better than fine.  It's all you need.  Please stop writing claptrap that sounds like you just won the Miss Teen USA pagent.

ETA  and I also have begun to dislike the author commenting on her characters.   I can form my own opinion of them, thank you.

Geesh.

What do you love or hate about Author notes?  Am I right or am I really just plain ol' horky?

My oh my, I've missed you guys.  I started grad school several months ago (MSW) and it has taken a while for my old brain to learn how to function again academically.  Whew.

But, I can finally breathe a little (at least until the rumored-to-be-uglier-than-Satan's-Anus research class starts).

What are your favorites right now?  Favorite anything ...

Favorite Food?

Favorite Book?

Favorite Fic?

Favorite Music?

Favorite Sex Position Pistol?

Favorite Hottie?

Favorite Movie?

Favorite Nail polish?

Favorite Gif?

Anything.  Seriously.

And is anyone else excited about Outlander?!!!!!!  I'm seriously happy about the casting choices so far (I'll admit it, I originally thought Sam Heughan was a little too delicate, but he's starting to grow on me).  Please world, don't let Starz f#$ker up my favorite book series.

OMG.  I NEED THIS!

Very Superstitious...

Friday September 13, 2013 at 10:15 AM

.......writing's on the wall...

..

So- it's Friday the 13th and you know what that means, right?  Avoid black cats at all costs.

Are you superstitious? Is it only on Friday the 13th or do you practice all year long?

Let's talk about it-

Fun Times With Batman

Thursday September 12, 2013 at 12:03 PM

And....I'm back, with another episode of ComiCamp!

This week I have a couple questions for us to discuss:

1. Have you found any kind of games based on comics that you play? Personally, I've been playing Injustice: Gods Among Us on my iPhone and it's amazing. It's from the same people that came up with Mortal Kombat.

2. On that same note, what about cartoons? Do any of you watch the 60's cartoons, or 80's, or more modern? I've been getting into this:

So come in, discuss, let your nerdy side out!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Thursday September 12, 2013 at 7:46 AM

Surely you've heard.

The Queen is Back!

Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling are partnering up again to film a new series based on the textbook from the Harry Potter series titled "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". J.K. Rowling will be writing the screenplay! It is set 70 years before Harry Potter, so no crossovers, but fans will recognize Newt Scamander.

So, what do you think? Will you see it? Do you think it's a money-maker? Do you think it's geared toward the 2nd generation of Harry Potter fans just now old enough to start buying the books? Maybe something for the older fans who were there at the beginning? Give us your thoughts!

I finished my last fic

Wednesday September 11, 2013 at 8:13 PM

So, after a year or two, I have finally finished writing my last fan fiction,  The Walkers. My next step is to write my own novel.

To make this interactive:

1. How did you feel after finishing your last fan fiction (or any fic). What did you do? Have a fancy dinner? Have a drink? (I think I might do the latter!)

2. To those lovelies who have written original novels, do you have any advice on how to start? I have my characters down. I know what needs to happen, I just don't know how to start! To outline or not to outline? That is the question!

"Nice doggie!"

Yes, the absolute worst werewolf movie I have ever seen.

A lycanthrope virus gets loose in New York

and the military wants use it to create super-soldiers!

(Yeah. Not very original.)

Where is Taytay when you need him?!?!

Let's discuss genre movies.

(1)  The Good

The best you've ever seen; you would recommend without reservation

(2)  The Bad

The steaming-pile-of-poop movie you would like to warn people about

(3) The Guilty Pleasure

You liked it in spite of yourself
