I originally skipped it because ... more -30 + 80 = yawn.  

But then, I clicked it, and ... um .... 

DOES THIS MEAN THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WRITER'S COFFEE SHOP ARE SUING EACH OTHER??

Or, um, hmmm.  Maybe I'm thinking of OmniFic?

Because a cursory glance at the article led me to believe that's exactly what it means.

But I could be wrong, because I have no idea who any of those people are.

Although I suspect some, if not all of them, were/are members of our fandom.

In July we'll vote for the Fic Dive of the Year!  The June Fic Dives will be the final stories included for voting for 2014. 

As of today, 177 stories have been part of the weekly Fic Dive. (Not including the Flash Backs)  Who says there is nothing new in the fandom?

A doctor searching for a cure. A breakthrough that questions everything. Much can be gained in the battle to extend human life, but at what cost? And for Isabella and the man she longs to trust, one question remains: Is success a medical discovery, or is it the discovery of one's true self?

Bella is an aging doctor researching amazing and futuristic medicine in order to extend life. Has a definite sci fi flare to it.  I have some intriguing ideas as to where this is going.   The last posted chapter sets up the culmination of Bella's research and experiment.

Bella is mourning the loss of Charlie.  An almost collision with a cyclist has her shaken.  The young man she almost hit with her car is the spitting image of her lost love.  Great start.

She's haunted daily, but learns to deal with her gift, helping those in need. He hides behind his opinions ,seeking closure, barely living. When their worlds collide can they help each other. A story of loss, love and betrayal with a supernatural twist.

This Edward just breaks my heart.  He's so lost.  Bella's unique ability is able to help him move on and let go of his heartbreak.  The sequel is currently a WIP.

So, a long time ago, I was thinking about taking the basic idea of my fanfic story and turning it into a original fiction.

BUT, now I am not. The campfire where I brought this up last year changed my mind. Most people were supportive, don't get me wrong. But there were a couple people who thought I shouldn't. And that's okay.

I'm curious about this though: Do you think you can change someone's mind about pulling a fic or just taking the basic idea of it? Do you think EL James would have changed her mind had she known what an uproar it would cause in fandom? Or any other author who pulled or whatever? Do you think some people expect you to treat them differently depending on which fic they wrote - or that you would treat them differently depending on what they wrote?

What was your best bargain find in books? Find an amazing boxed set at a discount? Hit a garage sale and strike gold? Did you have a spinster aunt who unknowingly had a priceless first edition she was using to balance a wonky table?

Do tell.
