Do you play video games? Over the years, I've tried a few, but none usually hold my attention for very long.

I don't like role playing games or shooting games. I do, however, like "Sim" games. I was slightly addicted to Sims 3 for a little while (until my computer crash and killed my main character and all his love children, and then I wasn't interested anymore). Mostly, I just like designing their houses and creating unlikeable Sims.

I also kind of love Prison Architect.  For a while, I was a prison-designing mad dog.

Do you ever play video games? If so, what are your favorites- the ones you think everyone should know about? Do you find them addictive, or do you really not care?

So yesterday was a certain sparkling vampire's birthday...

And I was kind of surprised that it slipped by without mention seeing as he's the reason most of us are here. Now granted, I completely forgot until someone mentioned it on Twitter but it got me thinking. I know a lot of people here still read Twific BUT have we, in general, as a fandom become completely removed from the source material? Has anyone here reread the books recently? Or watched the movies with genuine enjoyment and not just to mock them? Would anyone here be excited if SMeyer announced she was writing a new Twilight book? Or would our response just be humor, doubt and criticism?

If the answers to the above questions are all in the negative do we need to reconnect to what brought us here? Or is it okay to let a fandom die off? Or is it not really death but just transformation (and yeah, that's way esoteric but it's 3am)? I see a lot of folks on Twitter talking about The Rover. Are we no longer a Twilight fandom but rather a Rob fandom? Am I even making any sense? Inquiring sleep deprived minds want to know.

Anyway, Happy Belated Birthday, Edward. Sorry I forgot about you.

I will never, ever try to start a daily campfire again, especially in the run-up to my kids taking exams. Mea culpa. (I feel like I should start Chris Foley's "let me tell you why I suck as a salesman" speech, but make it about why I suck at campfires.)

Hello Campers!

It is almost officially summer and my older daughter has been out of school since last week.  (

She's not yet driving me crazy but we do have a lot of fun activities planned.)

This week we are sharing photos of what summer means to you.

Show us what you like to do during the summer time, show us a picture/song/photo/painting that is the essence of summer to you.  Or maybe share a summertime book/fic/movie rec for your fellow campers. 

Or if Comic Con is your summer thing, post us past pics, esp if you dressed up.

And, yeah, I forgot again that the southern hemisphere is in opposite seasons.  Sorry!  Please come join us anyway.

I am addicted to fanfic. Addicted. My mother tells me to read other books and find new characters to be involved with, and I do. I even read philosophy for crying out loud.

But yet, my love for Edward and Bella, and Jasper and Alice...remains. Untouched, unbroken, untarnished. And she doesn't understand it. I've tried and tried explaining to her that not all fanfic is the same, that every story is different even if the characters are the same, and still - she says move on.

I want to! I do, and I have found other books I like - but nothing has sucked me in - save Harry Potter, the way Twilight did.

Do you have people in your life that say, Move on already! Are you still hopelessly addicted to fanfic or have you found a new love? (I will say Outlander has ruined me too - though fanfic for that isn't allowed.) Do you even wish to move on? Or better yet, what do you say to the people who tell you not to read fanfic. (This isn't limited to Twilight btw.)

Update: she is okay with it now that she knows My Little Pony fanfic exists and I'm not reading that. lol
