There's too much going on today for me to even say who I'm watching. 

I'll definitely be watching this:

(and probably hiding my face a bit in shame and embarrassment from the butt-whipping I think my 'eers will get, but there's always hope.......right?)

Hey all, just a newbie around here and I thought I'd start my first campfire with the question of: Which Bella do you prefer to read or write about?

Some common tropes of general female characters that I've at least read to portray Bella:

Highly persuasive regardless of the actual content of their conversations, she manages to convince everyone else that her way is the best way.

Friend to all living things she loves everyone and forgives them all for their imperfections, plus she is willing to save, protect or risk all for the sake of someone she has met just seconds ago.

Master in disguise either brave and cheerful (despite her past), usually a variation of Friend to all living things

Incorruptible unaware of the possibility of temptation her love interest poses (innocent, insecure Bella).

"Feminist"/Strong occasionally a complete asshole, especially when she's supposed to be all of the above. Nobody will call her out on her abrasive, casually abusive behavior. Other characters usually bend to her will. A variation on Highly persuasive

Being super awesome is a curse for those Vampire!Bella fans who like a variation of Master in disguise

Those are all just generalizations of course, I personally love reading about a Feminist Bella :)

President Barack Obama held a news conference Thursday to reveal important information regarding Russia financing and arming separatists in Ukraine, migrant children in the U.S. and his strategy for defeating the Islamic State in Syria, but all eyes seemed to focus on his suit. The president addressed the press in a pale, khaki-colored suit, and the Internet exploded.

The suit prompted a slew of headlines criticizing the president for his fashion decision.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Are Married!

After nine years and six children together, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have married in France, PEOPLE has confirmed with multiple sources. The news was first reported by the Associated Press.

The wedding was held Saturday at Château Miraval in the village of Correns, where the couple first settled in 2008 and have since performed extensive renovations. The wine-growing estate has a 35-room main house, an ancient chapel and working vineyard spread over 1,100 acres.

 Kids and Guns: How young is too young?

A tragic accident in Arizona, as a 9-year-old girl accidentally shoots and kills her instructor at a gun range while using a fully automatic weapon.

In the video you can see the girl's instructor allow her to fire the weapon on semi-automatic once.But then he switches the 8 pound Uzi from semi-automatic to full auto.

"For a child of that size, it is difficult to handle until you have had the opportunity to shoot the gun semi-auto and maybe semi-auto a few times as fast as you can pull the trigger," said owner and instructor, Dick Berman.  As a shooting instructor, he says he feels that it is less about the age of the person learning to shoot and more about a certain level of maturity that will keep everyone safe when firearms are involved.

Other than this one tragic accident, reports show the gun range and instructor involved both had clean safety records.

Apple Preparing New 12.9-Inch IPad for Early 2015

Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s suppliers are preparing to manufacture the company’s largest-ever iPad, with production scheduled to commence by the first quarter of next year.

The new iPad will have a screen measuring 12.9 inches diagonally, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t public. Apple currently produces iPads with 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch displays. The Cupertino, California-based company has been working with suppliers for at least a year to develop a new range of larger touch-screen devices.

A month has elapsed since my husband died. On Sept 12th I'll finally bury him in his family's tomb in Turin. (Yes, it took this much.  Bureaucracy ....)

I am reasonably well, I have been supported and loved by family and friends (And by you too, dear campers). After the last step is done, I'll try to build a life alone, a good one as far as it is possible.

There is something I would like to share with you. At the funeral, my brother in law pronounced a short but wonderful tribute to Franco's memory. I have now translated it and a good friend - a former camper - edited it.

As this is a purely private thing I suppose I must  add a rec. A most bleak and beutiful fic by Giselle-lx - It is a story about missed opportunities. I didn't miss mine, of that I can be glad.

All  I could manage was a short sentence, that I'll share it with you. "Franco was not conventionally religious, but, if I know what Charity is, it is because of him.."..

TV Academy's chairman,led Vergara to a platform and turned on a switch that had the actress rotating as he spoke. A smiling Vergara vamped and preened in her white gown as Rosenblum rattled on. 
The blowback on social media was immediate, with several comments suggesting Vergara was being objectified and the bit was sexist.

"It's absolutely the opposite," the actress fought back. "It means that somebody can be hot and also be funny and make fun of herself and work and enjoy and make money."

Controversial inflight device: Should the Knee Defender be banned?

 

 

 

On Sunday, a woman wanted to recline her seat. The man immediately behind her was employing a Knee Defender. This is a device that prevents the seat in front from reclining. The woman in front didn't take kindly to having her movement restricted. When the man refused to remove his device, even when asked to by cabin crew, the woman than threw a cup of water at him.
This led to their United Airlines flight making an impromptu landing in Chicago. The two passengers were removed, but no arrests were made. Many opinions were raised if preventing a seat from reclining is fair.
