So, What to Do? /rhyming silliness

On a semi-serious note, I wanted you guys' perspectives. 

First off, let me just say that I'm feeling some super-emo-weirdness emotionally right now (and this is so not me, thus I'm kind of lost on how to deal). I'm depressed cause I had to put my dog down, I'm elated over two of my fics getting Indie noms, and I'm experiencing my normal post Renfield-porn-writing strangeness all at the same time. So, yeah, maybe I'm "sensitive" or something.

Cutting to the chase... I received my very first "negative" review last night, not for Dark Games (or I'd probably have freaked out since it is like my child right now), but rather for my ridiculously artsy, experimental piece for the Twi25 challenge (I'm doing a multi - it's called Escape/ Exculpation in case you wondered).

From the very start, I KNEW that some people would just hate it. It isn't normal or expected. It's highly artsy and very stream of consciousness-ish. I chose this route because A. I wanted to tell a story in a unique fashion, B. I wanted to do the Twi 25 and REALLY challenge and push myself, and C. I wanted to play with sounds and words and cadences. Hence, my clove-cig-smokin-art-mess. But I kinda love it.  

The review. It wasn't necessarily nasty. In fact, I wouldn't say it was even mean per se. But I can't help it; it's bugging the shit out of me. For a few reasons:

 - She posted it anonymously (so I can't have a discussion with her and explain why I chose to go the route I did) ---> cue disable anon reviews, I know.

 - She started it out with "I have a bone to pick with you..." For some reason, that little snippet just ran all over me.

 - Despite rather thoroughly bashing my poetic tendencies, not once did she say anything nice. I'm like, why bother reading and commenting? I'm great with constructive feedback - I love it. But normally, folks couch it inside of some positives. So, it doesn't sting.

Anywho, not meaning to vent. Mostly, I'm just curious what your thoughts are on negatives reviews in general. Do you pay attention to them? Do they effect your writing? Do you just say 'fuck it' and move on? Have you ever felt guilty about a review you've left?

Hello campers out there... this is my first campfire and I'm a little nervous... I have a question for authors...

I've been wondering, after reading too much fanfiction, why is that when Edward, Jasper or Emmet describe their girl's clothes, they usually do it with so much detail...

For instance... Bella was wearing a lovely blue chiffon blouse, with peep toe pumps, blah, blah, blah... and I've seen this in a lot of fics...

Men don't pay attention to clothes! Well, they do like to see their women wearing nice things, but they would usually describe them as "nice blue shit, it looked hot on her..."

Authors out there... Do you do this consciously or it's just comes naturally and never thought about it?

I am unable to access ADF at work, because it- and actually all- Twilight sites are blocked. My private email is only accessible about half the time. I hate being stuck in traffic knowing there's plenty o' fanfic updates waiting in my inbox that I can't read right away. It makes me sad to think about how I won't have internet access for 8 whole days and nights when I go on vacay in October.

I went to the mall tonight to get my daughter some new jeans.

In my defense, I'd had my generic flip phone for three years- I NEEDED to upgrade. Even though I'm so overwhelmed with this thing right now- seriously, I'm trying to turn it on and see if my number's been ported over but I'm scared to touch it- all I can think about is, as you campers are my witness, I'll never go Rob/ADF/fic-less again!

Michael Welch will be hosting a special benefit concert in Los Angeles on March 2nd (at the Roxy) to help raise awareness for homelessness. Welch will be teaming up with Nashville band SHIROCK and other special guest celebrities to hold the concert, and the event will not be a ticket-based one. Instead, attendants are simply to bring clothing and cash donations for the local homeless population. The band, SHIROCK, is debuting their new album entitled "Everything Burns," so the event is appropriately to be titled "Everything Burns in Hollywood." The specific charity being aided by the concert is the Midnight Mission. Admission to the event is limited, so those interested in attending should email the organizers to gain VIP access. You'll just need to tell them how many are coming, any company you're with, and your name.
