I tore myself away from the computer this morning to take

The Midget to her first soccer practice.

We had an unexpected visitor that totally

brought me some happeh and I wanted to share it with you.

Men and Women In Uniform

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 2:41 PM

It is unfortunately that time of year again where we remember the events that took place nine years ago on September 11, 2001. I'll never be able to express how much I look up to the heroes of that day, those who lived and those who who gave their lives to save others. Today I'd like to read some fan fiction that has our favorite characters in uniform. Police Officers, Firefighters, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc, please rec me your favorite Edward and Bella in uniform stories.

Updates

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 2:37 PM

I know lots of people like reading stories that are complete. I'm the opposite. I prefer stories that are in progress. I'm the weirdo that likes cliffhangers and having to wait for the next chapter. I get more invested in stories that way.

I want to know what stories you desperately await updates for. What stories make you gasp when you realize there's a new chapter waiting? What do you covertly read when you should be working? What updates are more important than getting somewhere on time? Give me your faves.

Mine will be in the comments. (P.S. Even if they haven't updated in awhile, still share. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.)

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 2:35 PM

I'm looking for some real Edward Cullen is a Hot Sex God type fic. After a very emotional day [Not just ADF - I got some stupid "bad" news today] and FF is banned here - I need some Sparkling, Bronze Haired, Smirking EC luvin'!

My criteria - EC must bring the AWESOME. Bella must bring the HILARIOUS or alternatively the Cool or atleast the NONWHINY!

Also - please let it be only Twilighted or ADF...

Also - please make it something completely engrossing - I need to get my mind off of life!

FYT: [or the time of your life, I should say...]

Also - if you wanna share some pictures of RPattz - that's cool.

And... We're Back...

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 2:09 PM

... to our Regularly Scheduled Programming!

It's 5pm Eastern Standard Time and FFFA is officially over!

It's was fun, wasn't it?

Though...things did get a teensy bit heated so let me remind you of the RULES.

1. You must get permission to post off-topic campfires.  Off-topic meaning anything that isn't related to Twilight, the actors, the books, movies, etc; True Blood or other Vampy things, Happry Potter, or Buffy.  We love thiss tuff.  We love other stuff too....just PAGE A RANGER FIRST.  THANKS.

2. Make your campfires INTERACTIVE.  Share with the group, people.

3. BE NICE.  Look... we will not tolerate PERSONAL ATTACKS of any kind.  CONSIDER THIS THE GROUP WARNING.  If you're insulting to anyone here in the Forest, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

Also... see the RULES at the RANGER STATION.  If you have any issues or questions, send one of us a PM and we will gladly discuss any of this with you.

The Forest is meant to be a FUN & FRIENDLY place....and we need you to help us out with that.

I'm gonna be patrolling the Forest all night...if there's an issue, lemme know.  I'm trying really hard not be cranky but those of you know me know I've been without my two favorite things for two days and it's making me cranky.

BE NICE CAMPERS.

and have fun xoxo

Help

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 11:25 AM

I need help with a FFic. I read over the first chapter briefly and can't remember what it's called. Bella works in a restaruant and Edward picks her up (I think). They enter some sort of marriage contract. Esme is sick and dying and they only give her a few months to live. I know it's not the Blessing and the Curse. Can someone please help?

JACKSON AND 100MONKEYS!!!

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 10:55 AM

As you all may know, I have a bit of a thing for this young man>>>

What you may not know is that besides being HOT, HOT, HOT! He is also a really brilliant musician and is a member of a band called

100 Monkeys here is a small sample of their brilliance

here is one from a concert where Jackson made it up as he went along"Joygasm" yes, thats right, "Joygasm".

Their shows are great fun and they all play all the instruments. But... and that is a cute little butt, that is not all!
There is soo much more to young Mr. Rathbone and his compatriots. They make movies, and one it premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this weekend! GIRLFRIEND not only stars Jackson, and his bandmate Jared, but it also stars a young actor named Evan Snieder who has DOWNS SYNDROME!
Here is a trailer for it:
The boys are did the music for the movie, and are doing 3 live shows in Toronto in support of the movie.
Jackson is a true example of a Renaissance man. He has many, many talents and he is a truly cool individual that I have had the pleasure of meeting and that absolutely holds a special place in my heart for his kindness and compassion.
He participates in a memorial concert called the Spencer Bell Memorial Concert for Adrenal Cancer Research, raising money and keeping the memory of a young mans music alive.
The concert times in Toronto are as follows:The Garrison
September 11, 2010 at 10pm to September 12, 2010 at 1am – The Garrison
Lightbox Street Fair
September 12, 2010 from 11am to 1pm – Dundas Street East
After Party for Girlfriend Premiere!
September 13, 2010 at 10pm to September 14, 2010 at 12am – Brant House

Yeah, thats my baby with the love of her life...

Thank you G.A.W. for letting me loose with this....

Thank You.

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 8:50 AM

In some way or another  we are all affected by the events that took place nine years ago today. This isn't about remembering, this is about thanking.  So many of our lives are different because of family or friends or simple acquaintances in the military. Take this as an opportunity to remember a person, close friend or not and say thank you.

Thank you to my friends here on ADF and Twitter who have loved ones serving, actively or not. I can't imagine your sacrifice.

Have you forgotten...

Saturday September 11, 2010 at 12:56 AM

*ranger edit: this thread has veered into conversation regarding religion and things got a bit intense, as these are sensitive, emotional subjects for many.  If you choose to participate in this thread, please do so with great regard for the feelings of your fellow campers.

In remembrance to 9/11...we recently listened a song from the past....Have you forgotten by Darryl Worley.

Where were you when 9/11 happened?

I was a sophomore in High school.  We were sitting in our homeroom, waiting for the bell to ring.  Our teachers were scrambling to get the tv on even though none of us were really paying attention.  What we saw...it didn't seem real.  Sure, we've heard over the years about the Columbine shootings and the Oklahoma bombings, but nothing ever hit us so close to home.  I lived in Upstate NY at the time.

The news really didn't kick in until more news was advertised and we saw more of the damage that was done, the repetitive pictures of people scrambling for their lives with no hopes of being saved.  It still depresses me today, as I'm sure it does anyone.  I'm never been able to bring myself to watch any of the movies that were based on the events...I don't think I could make it through.

That is why I'm so opposed to have a Muslim temple being built so close to the fallen towers...it has nothing to do with their religion...I don't' care what they practice or who they believe it...but it was their counterparts in the unknown worlds that crashed into ours.  It's sad that we still can't find peace in our worlds, even though we are considerable free...at least more free than others in different countries... (I couldn't do white...)

So, in remembrance to 9/11.....

I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war.
I say there's some things worth fightin' for.
What about our freedom, and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down.
They say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in
Before you start preachin' let me ask you this my friend.

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten, when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin through a livin hell
And you say we shouldn't worry bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

You took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbin for you and me
It'll just breed anger is what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country just out lookin' for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say right.

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin' through a livin' hell
And we vow to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
you can bet they remember just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten
All the people killed
Yes some went down like heroes
In that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten
About our Pentagon
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?!

I'm Hyperventilating Right Now

Friday September 10, 2010 at 9:58 PM

There's a festival coming up in the beginning of October called The New Yorker Festival (as in the New Yorker magazine) and one of the many events they are having is a vampire panel.  Wait.  This gets better.  Panelists include Stephen King, Matt Reeves (director of Cloverfield and Let Me In), and...wait for it...MELISSA ROSENBERG which in case you've been living under a rock is the screenwriter for all of the Twilight movies (and oddly enough some of the episodes of Dexter)!!!

I want to go.  I WANT TO GO.  But I'd rather not go by myself so I'm wondering if anyone here would be interested?  It's on Saturday October 2nd at 1:00pm.  It's at the Acura Stage on West 37th Street.

Details on the festival can be found here:

http://www.newyorker.com/festival

I'm honestly surprised this event hasn't sold out yet.  I would say tickets should be bought soon.

The Young Folks blog

Friday September 10, 2010 at 9:36 PM

Hey fellow campers! Since its FFAF I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to tell you guys about my recently launched website called The Young Folks.

We are a blog in which we review movies, music and books and give them a young perspective. Me and my friend Gaby came out with this idea because we noticed how there wasn't a website in which reviews were made for young people and by young people {including the young heart}.

So yeah guys you can go visit our website  http://www.theyoungfolks.com

We so far have reviews for "The Social Network", "Mockingjay", "Jack Goes Boating" and hold it... "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1"  and more!

Later on we are going to have giveaways like Hunger Games books autographed by Suzanne Collins, Twilight goodies, CD copies and screening tickets!

You can follow us on twitter @TYFofficial and you can "Like" us on Facebook too http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Young-Folks/156189131064135

So go ahead check out the site and leave comments!
