I don't know if there was a campfire about this or not, but this is the first time I'm hearing about it.

For those of you out there who watched The Secret Circle that came on after The Vampire Diaries on the CW, the show has apparently been cancelled. There also doesn't look like there will be a DVD/Blu Ray of Season One coming out either.

I was actually getting really into the show, so I'm disappointed that it's over. The Season One finale basically set the audience up for Season Two, and now we'll never know how the story will unfold. I'm not sure how close the t.v. series was to the actual books, but I feel like I need to read the books just to know what happens.

Thoughts? Opinons? Was I the only one finding this out over a month after it had been announced? lol

I have never done a "bitch" session here before, but I wanted to tell you a little story about what happened to my family this week when they visited Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. I am spitting mad, and I'm sharing this with the intention of saving you some SERIOUS dollars and potential headaches. During these tough economic times I think its important to share with others those places worth your trouble, and those that are not.

I will preface this by stating that we live in Jacksonville, Florida, which is a couple of hours north of Orlando. My brother, who brings his two kids (ages 9 &10) down from Washington, DC each year to spend his annual week long vacation with us and my youngest sister, who has five kids (ranging in age from 1 year to 14 years) decided to visit Universal Studios so their kids could  see the Harry Potter Park, Spiderman rides, etc. My sister's husband and two of the kids did not go with them.

Upon arrival, they purchased tickets to "Universal" -- which unbeknownst to them is NOT part of "Islands of Adventures". (It is important to note that although we live in Florida, the Universal Studios parks are very confusing and you're not really sure what is and isn't included in each park -- my sister assumed that Islands of Adventure was the "roller coaster park" because that's what they heavily promote). The cost of the tickets were $90 EACH (because unless you are an embryo, virtually everyone is considered an adult). As they were paying, they were told that the lines for the rides were quite lengthy and they were "upsold" fast passes at a COST of $50 PER PERSON.

Once they were in the park, they discovered that half the rides their kids were hoping to visit were in "Islands of Adventure", so my sister schleps back to the customer service desk to see what their options were. After waiting in line (with numerous other customers), she was told that since they had passed the "one hour mark" the ONLY option they had was to pay the special two-park fee, which was an additonal $40 per ticket! There was also a cost differential in the fast passes, but due to my sisters vocal ire, they "comped" the $20 per ticket upcharge.

Back in the park, they discovered the following: 1) most rides have a height regulation, so the younger kids were forbidden to ride many of them 2) Universal's "E.T" ride and Island of Adventures' "Harry Potter Experience"; were broken, so too bad, so sad 3) a large portion of the rides are actually simulators and come with warnings for people with bad backs-- even the Dr. Suess ride!!! My sister said her 5 year old dare devil cried throughout the Dr. Suess and Spiderman rides, and both mother and daughter were nauseous most of the day. Also, my brother carried a standard backpack and was told it was too big to keep on his back and therefore had to put it in a locker (another line) only to discover it was too big for most of the miniscule lockers.

Buying food was another joy. My sister spent $50 for lunch -- two sandwiches and drinks and two kids meals. Snacks later consisted of chips and drinks at an additional cost of $40.

Oh, and unlike Disney, where the parks remain open until midnight or 1 am, Islands of Adventure and Universal close at 9 and 10 pm, respectively.

By the time their Island of Adventure HELL was done, it cost my brother more than $700 and my sister almost $1000. My sister told their customer service desk on the way out she hoped they enjoyed her money, because it was the last penny they would ever see from her again.

I am sharing with you so that those who plan to spend time at these parks are prepared both mentally and financially!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, howdy there! There's been some super fun and super hilarious 50 reviews floating around the twitter lately. Just thought I'd share. I read these the night before last and was laughing so hard I woke up the baby twice, and TC kicked me out of our room because it was driving him crazy that I was snorting, gasping, coughing, wheezing and shaking the bed with--at that point--just silent, near-deadly laughter.

I am pretty sure is my first campfire ever!

Three weeks from today my family and I will be joining my husband's family in Hilton Head SC for my mother-in-law's 85th birthday.  I've never been to either of the Carolinas so I'm really looking forward to it.  I'm also interested in meeting up with other campers/twifans in the area or along the way.  

We'll be driving from Oklahoma City to Hilton Head, I think the plan is to drive for 12 hours and stop for the night somewhere around Atlanta on Friday Aug 3rd and then drive the rest of the way Aug 4th.  

My daughter Jackie (@theroselamb) and I are willing to drive up to one hour away from Hilton Head to meet with any campers/twifans. Actually after a couple of days with the in-laws we may be willing to drive further.  We also invite any campers/twifans in the area to come visit us if you'd rather.  Husband is bringing one of his toys and the drinks will be flowing all week long :)  So PM me here or DM me on Twitter (@TLammy) if you'd like to meet up sometime from Aug 4-11 in Hilton Head SC or surrounding area

Some RDJ love for your time

OMG.  I don't know who rec'd this book in a campfire many months back, but I just spent the last two days devouring this book.  I am stunned by how much I liked it.  What I enjoyed most about this story is that it was a bit edgier than most other supernatural series out there right now.  That, and the characters are wonderfully well developed yet done so with such subtlety that you don't even realize you're forming these deep attachments to them until you find yourself weeping unexpectedly.  I can also say that this is the first time in a very LONG time that I actually like both the hero and heroine.  Penryn is an intelligent, strong and driven young woman who is not yet so bitter with the post-apocalyptic world she finds herself in that she's lost all sense of compassion.  Raffe is... well, I don't want to give anything away.  Suffice to say he is the perfect blend of masculinity and strength and loyalty and determination, with a heartbreaking amount of vulnerability and broken craftily woven in.

Anyway, anyone else reading this?  It's the first of 5 books, supposedly.  I don't know how I'll wait for the next in the series!

Hello, I have sort of been twilight fic diving to find a good (well written) story to read for a while now and have no luck in finding one. I had looked through the pimp, sneak peak, and recommendation campfires every week including this week. I just don't have time to read every 3 chapters of each story that has been pimped and recommended. This is my last resort. Can you campers help me out by recommending some twilight fics (e/b only) that you think I may be interested in. Below are my all time favorites fic that I can reread (hopefully this can give you some perspective on which type of story I like). Unfortunately, there are stories that I like the first time around but once I tried to read them again...it's just doesn't work for me.

Hi Everyone. First Campfire so I hope it's okay, but I figure since it's FFA it should be.

I was wondering if any of you have read Original Fiction by your favourite Fanfiction Authors. If so what are the names? I'm looking for new stuff to read.

Also does anyone know if I buy the Kindle version of Fifty Shames of Earl Grey would it work on a Kobo? I can't find the ebook version on the Kobo website so I don't think it's available though them.

As you can understand from the title I’m currently under the influence of a big case of PMS, but this is not my main problem. More details inside!
 

Okay, so today and yesterday have been just awful. I mentioned it in the littlesecret84 campfire but since its already late it probabaly won't be payed attention to, so I'll be posting what went down inside.

And since it's not quite free for all yet, why don't you rec me a fanfic where the main characters explode. Can be verbal or physical sparring, and I mean  where the characters just go BALLISTIC and dive right into such a fiery, heated arguement you can feel the heat off of the computer screen. Tell me you're favorite blow up scenes, post excerpts, anything to get my mind off of this day....

UPDATE: So after talking with my Mom today, I realized she was mistaken about her wanting me to raise a storm. It was a miscommunication on both our parts. Emotions were running high and we misunderstood each others intentions. But still, the general story is the same; aunt crossed the line twice and now isn't welcome in our home.

She is a certified coconut.

UPDATE 2: Couldn't keep my cool this time. 

I posted what was originally posted here on a post of my own. Neutrality was the best option for yesterday, but today was a completely new matter. Today she came to get the rest of her stuff and I opened my mouth.  Yes, I admit, I should probably have stuck to staying silent, but this...I could not let her leave thinking that I was on her side. She had the nerve to tell me that she could press charges against my own mother if she so chose?  And she didn't believe that I wouldn't take offense to that? And she told me this through a text? I just...I can't even....

-sigh-

It had to be said. It may have been fueled by emotion, and it went against my baser nature, but I needed to let her know what side of the line I was on. This wasn't about not making an already volatile situation worse anymore. The situation was already out of the danger zone.  It's done. I did it.
