I’m delighted to announce, exclusively, that Yen Press will publish Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 on March 16, with a first printing of 350,000 copies. Here’s a first glimpse at the book’s cover, as well as an exclusive peek at one of its panels (for a full ten-page excerpt, and the entire Q&A with Stephenie Meyer, see the issue of EW that goes on sale this Friday).

What strikes me, looking at the book, is how faithfully, and how beautifully, artist Young Kim has translated Meyer’s original vision. Kim, who has a fine arts background—in fact, this is her first foray into graphic novels—didn’t just read the book; she absorbed it. Her Bella is the Bella I had in my mind’s eye the first time I read Twilight; her Edward is the Edward I always imagined. It took me back to reading Twilight pre-movie: Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson faded into the background.

Meyer talked to us about all this, and more. Here are a few snippets from our conversation:

The text of your original novel is boiled down so carefully that it doesn’t feel like anything is missing. Were you the one who did that?

I was definitely involved. I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak. But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering. In a couple of places, I asked for missing scenes to be inserted. For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology.

How does the feeling of reading the graphic novel compare to that of reading the original? Does it bring something new to the experience for you?

For me, it takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight. It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it.

When this project is done, are you done with Twilight?

I can’t say that I am done with Twilight forever. I’m not working on anything new Twilight-related now, and probably not for a while. But there’s still a possibility that I’ll go back and close some of the open doors.

UT: He is a big star right now. I’m excited because the film is a classical, technical piece of work, and it’s beautiful. It’s a bit of bedroom drama. It’s a romance between Rob and a number of Parisian housewives.

LAC: And you’re one of the love interests?

UT: I end up marrying him, but there are some twists. My daughter is like, “Mom, why do you keep getting these roles where you’re getting younger men?” And I said, “Well at least I don’t do it in real life.”

Personally, I'm excited to see Rob in this film, and with an older woman...(HOTTTT).  And I love Uma Thurman. 

CONFESSION TIME: In the late 80's she dated a director I may or may not have been slightly obsessed with....and her brother may or may not have been attending Wesleyan University where my bff may or may not have been attending at the same time.  I ADMIT NOTHING... but it might be possible that bff and I stalked her brother...just a little.  I may or may not have made out with one of his good friends. (by my count....that's only 4 degrees of separation between me and Rob~~~we're practically married, srsly)

Hey Ladies!

This is just something I want to address quickly because I've been running into it A LOT lately and I find that it's mostly because authors simply don't know. If you find this completely obvious, please move on and enjoy your day.

To most banner-makers, it's really important (and polite) if you credit the banner-maker NEXT to the banner in your summary or profile. If you are really opposed to that, than at least credit them inside the story (unless the banner-maker specifically asks you not to).

I know we spend like .0001% of the time that you spend on writing your story making the banner, but it's still good form to get the name of the banner-maker out there to the public. Often times that's the only way we are recognized in the fandom (especially if  we don't write fic).

*Edit- Sorry, I should mention that this is my opinion. Please feel free to agree or disagree. I'm just speaking from my own experience and talking with other banner-makers, but obviously there are always shades of grey and I'd love to hear your opinion on the matter. =)

So this is just a silly campfire. I've been trying to get people into ff's and ADF, and it's been kinda hard. I've noticed that people are a bit hesitant to move away from the Canon universe into the smut filled wonderful land of Fanfiction! I guess we've become immune to it. But anyway, that wasn't the point of this. I wanted some ideas of what I could be doing. I've tried bribing (and some of you know that I am good at that), I've tried making intellectual observations as to why this place is wonderful, I've created a community just for All Vamp fics, I've even gotten into full on fangirl squee mode, and some of its worked, but I can't get them to keep up with it. Or maybe, I'm just a hopeless addict? I don't know, but I want them to suffer my addiction alongside me! HAHAHA, just kidding, maybe.

So, give me your ideas!!!

Well, many of you know the drama of yesterday night. Apparently now, I have to face the repercussions from twilighted. They are deleting my story and my forum account because one of my stories I marked as NC-17 because there's a small 2-paragraph lemon that is not at all graphic.

Here's my repsonse email:

Technically it's not NC-17. There is one tiny "lemon" in one chapter, but it does not go into much detail. And actually, I'm not 14. I just haven't updated my account info in awhile.

 I know what this is about. And really, I do not find it fair that my story that I put so much time and effort into is going to be deleted from your website. I don't mean to offend, but clearly none of this would have been a problem if not for yesterday's events, and it s very upsetting that this is how you guys would take your anger out on me.

 I have thouroughly supported Twilighted, introducing many family members and friends to your website, and sticking up for it when people have brought your website into question. Frankly, I'm very dissappointed.

 I'd very much appreciate a response.

This is all really stressful and upsetting, and I don't know if I shouldn't just leave the fandom at this point. I can't deal with the hate and mean-spirited actions anymore. This is getting to be too much.

So, Ranger Emibella has bit her lip more than Bella in a fanfic in the past 24 hours so I am expecting this to be a big post.

That means that I want your stuff, the stuff you are reading, the stuff you want rec'd to you..dude I want it all. I want so many links in this that it looks like a prison fence. I want your art, your favorite art, your fic, your favorite fic. Whatever. I just want a great place to go to find something fabulous.
