Hypnosis

Saturday April 3, 2010 at 11:08 AM

No, I'm not referring to my old avatar.

I'm curious if anyone here has ever used hypnosis for behavior modification. And, more importantly, did it work for you? I've been considering it for the last 7 or 8 years. But it's a lot of money, with no guarantee of success. I don't know anyone who's ever done it in RL, so hoping someone hear will have some experience with hypnosis. I asked my doctor and she said that while there was no medical evidence to back it up, it couldn't hurt to try. But it could damn sure hurt my bank account!

ADF LOVE POST

Saturday April 3, 2010 at 9:30 AM

Thankfully I was spending QT with my husband, Buffy and Angel last night during all the dramz.

I did notice that our Rangers were there to help maintain the forest (as always).

One of the great things about ADF is that we occasionally have controversial topics. This is a user generated site so sometimes people are turned off by other’s opinions. I noticed in one post a camper said people who love AG don’t come here because they feel chastised for their opinions. I’ve also heard that Jacob followers feel there is too much Edward/Rob love and not enough Jacob/Taylor round these parts.

The thing is this is NOT an anti-AG site (personally I have loved everything AG has ever written) nor is this an Edward/Rob only site. What’s on this site is driven by the Campers. By each and every one of you. If you want to see more AG post more love for her. If you want to see more Jacob love, post it.

I like to play in another fandom, where my “team” is considered the minority. Does that keep me from posting my opinions? Hell no. Do my posts often get overwhelmed by the other team? Yep, but Idc, this is all for fun and ADF provides a place that we can all share our opinions AND NOT BE JUDGED FOR IT.

What you can find in the forest is different opinions. We are a mixture of many diverse and amazing women. Some I agree with, some I don’t. Most of us, try to keep it classy, but that doesn’t always happen. And that is what I LOVE about ADF. That, in my opinion, is what makes this site so special.

I also love that the rangers here are creative and dedicated to the forest. They do so much behind the scenes, they make this place function, they make this place fun, but they are also human. Sometimes trolls slip through the cracks.

I’d like to dedicate this post to the amazing Rangers and Campers that make up this forest.

Please tell us what you love about ADF, about your fellow Campers or Rangers.

Thank you Punkfarie, for giving me the idea for this fire <3

Happy Post

Saturday April 3, 2010 at 3:39 AM

So with all the drama that happened during the night I feel that we need to lighten up the forest again, and make it the friendly, wonderful place we all love.
And in order to do that I want you to post things that makes you happy. It could be something that happened recently, a picture, perhaps a video. Whatever it is, I want you to post it.

These songs always cheer me up:

And I'm currently happy because three of my best friends are at home over the easter, two of which I haven't met in over 3 months!

Watching The Big Bang Theory does also make me happy:

So let's start and make this forest a happy place again!

Woops! Dedward's post has gone bye-bye

Saturday April 3, 2010 at 1:33 AM

I think we scared Dedward away...

Seriously, though. You want to trash? Do it under a penname we can recognize, not under a twi character name.

Where's the Twihards At?

Saturday April 3, 2010 at 12:39 AM

After seething with jealousy over JennyFly and Wtov and company today, I thought maybe we should all find out if we are at all geographically compatible. I sadly am probably not near anyone, as all of the cool kids seem to migrate to more pleasant climates, but I'll start anyway. I am in Shawnee, Kansas, which is a suburb of Kansas City, smack dab in the middle of the U.S. of A. Anyone else????

Too big for their britches?

Friday April 2, 2010 at 10:49 PM

A comment in the fic flouncing post got me thinking...

What happens when a BNA (Big Name Author) gets to the point where they have a title or two that are so ubiquitous everyone in the fandom has an opinion about them one way or another? The author knows she has built-in fangirls and built-in haters, and any new fic she posts will be subjected to the prejudices that have built up over reactions to her previous stories or fandom wank or whatever.

Even so, clicks and reviews are a guarantee, and in this fandom, review count is like your status symbol, right?

Does the author ride the wave of fandom fame and post more stories, watching the numbers rise steadily as dreams of a publisher reading her smash hit with three hundred thousand reviews and then offering her a twelve-book-deal fill her head?

Or do they begin to wonder if the art-- the work-- the word-- is getting lost amidst the hype?

Does the author perhaps (with the best of intent) create a new pen name for publishing a new story so that she may sit back and see what the readership really thinks? And perhaps, if it isn't the instant success her ego has come to depend upon, does she use her BNA persona to pimp the new fic by the bright young ingenue...
just to give the story the chance it really deserves, mind you...

Gosh, do we think this could possibly ever happen around the Twi-verse?

what turns your crank?

Friday April 2, 2010 at 10:45 PM

I was watching trainwreck tonight, and eyeing up Joe...as per usual...but my eye kept wandering to one area in particular.

No, not there you dirty girls, the camera doesn’t even show that low.

Normally it would be the beard that I am drawn to, but tonight I couldn’t help but stare at this...

those nicely sculpted drummers’ arms kept luring me back.

So ladies, I want to know, are you.....
a butt girl?
or an arm girl?
all about the abs?
the lips perhaps?
or maybe even hair?
what about the eyes?

myself?...I am all about the arms.

unnnnnfffffffff

tell me, what is your biggest draw?  and show me your favourite example.

Does anyone want to help me with an avatar?

Friday April 2, 2010 at 10:09 PM

Because I am computer illiterate, and though I have tried, I still can't figure it out. I also don't know how to search through old campfires... I saw something wtvoc posted on helping dingbats like me with avatars, but I can't locate it. I just want a black background, with white words saying, "I Like My Men Cold, Dead, and Sparkling." And maybe it could sparkle alittle? Or not, I don't care, I am just tired of the "X" and tired of thinking I updated the thing, and STILL seeing the "X"

Languages

Friday April 2, 2010 at 10:02 PM

I was reading a previous post, and a lot of us speak another language.

I speak Spanish, my grandmother was Italian so I spoke a little Italian with her, when I was in elementary school I started taking English. In high school I decided to take French, instead of going for the easy A in Spanish, and kept taking classes in college.

So campers how many of you speak another language?

How many are learning a second language?

How many of you wish you spoke another language?

Add onion and bell pepper: cook, stiring often, until softened - 3-5 mins. Stir in garlic, chili powder and cumin; cook for 30 sceonds. 1c buttermilk powder

5tbsp dried egg white, such as Just Whites

1/4c sugar

To make

1 1/2c skim milk

FORKS HIGHSCHOOL WRITING CLUB

Hello campers!

This is an open invitation for you all to pay a visit and participate in the fic-exchange happening over at forkshighschool on LJ

To make it quick, forkshighschool is a sister community of the_gazebo and was created with the intention of encouraging new, old, and just starting out writers in the fandom to get their creative thoughts moving with thanks to prompts from their peers. For those who are a bit shy, we have anonymous posting turned on for those authors and prompters that are not comfortable sharing their screenames or would simply like to remain a 'secret'.

PROMPT POST #1 got an amazing 334 replies with some amazing prompts and discussion. We had such an awesome response that after three days we already had a handful of fics posted which you can find HERE

PROMPT POST #2 is up and starving for your attention!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'm _diamonddog over at livejournal, and my wingwoman is the lovely lts29  who i'm sure would love to answer anything you might like to ask too.

THIS POST WAS RANGER APPROVED :)
