There's a nifty little blog post I just saw regarding Kristen Stewart and her lack of red carpet smiling:

The author argues that our collective insistence to have Kristen smile is a form of gender role policing--that we expect women to want to be looked at, to want to be admired, and to reassure others that being looked at is something we welcome. When someone comes along not willing to reassure us in such a way, we punish her for not playing the part. All the while, we don't expect the same reassurance from her male red carpet counterparts because we have different expectations for them.

I know i'm the first person ever to ask this question (HA HA) but what is it about twilight that turns you on so much?

I can't even answer this for myself...but i'll tell you how it went down happened to me...

My friend and I rented Twilight as a joke. long story short, we weren't laughing at the end of it. I had no idea about the whole saga or that Robert Pattinson was anybody at all and kristen was the little girl in panic room. anywho i was obsessed aft that. read all the books, bought the movie, watched Rob porn, which is essentially googlelin him or browsin pics on photobucket. i stumbled upon fanfiction one night and it wasn't even a B/E story. it was jacob and leah. it was hott. i was like woah im way turned on. I wont even read a jacob centered fic now. but anyways, i have like 200 favorited stories and im a forest regular and twilighted and the whole spiel. But i still have no idea what it is about reading twilight fanfic or more specifically and my most favorite kind forbidden love/angst/hump me on the kitchen table that has captured so much of my time/life/mental capacity.

why do you like it? how did you find out about it? because if i ever mention it, which isn't often, people are like what?

i just wanna know because i can't TALK about it to real people.

Hi, All!

I'm looking for some good, finished fics to give to my mother for Mother's Day.  She's a Twihard and a true Jacob-lover.  (She's also a doctor of psychology and a psychoanalyst.)  I plan to upload a bunch of stories to her brand new Nook and let her read them at her leisure. 

I first gave her In the Blink of an Eye, which she loved and has reread several times.

Here are some requests:

1. Completed fic--My mom, though brilliant, is not so good with navigating the Interwebs, so waiting/finding updates would be...a challenge.)
2. Canon--she's very into fics that expand on/develop the original novels.
3. Light on the smut--When she read ItBoaE, she...um...paused at the (few) sex scenes.  Her exact words to me: "Mija, the story was amazing.  But there were some very...racy parts in there.  Whew.  I felt like I needed to go find a vibrator or something." (My mom does not talk like this.)
4. Jacob/Bella--Since she's a huge Jacob fan, she'd really enjoy a good J/B fic.  I know this isn't canon, but this is where she'd be okay with deviating.
5. Well-written--She'll have a very hard time if there are a lot of spelling/grammatical errors (don't we all?)

So, does anyone have any recommendations?  (They can meet any or all of these criteria.)

Pattinson’s co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz are both Oscar winners. Witherspoon won a Best Actress Oscar for James Mangold’s Walk the Line (2005), while Waltz was this year’s Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.

Hal Holbrook, who’ll be playing the aged version of Pattinson’s character — a young traveling-circus veterinary during the Depression years — received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for Sean Penn’s Into the Wild two years ago.

Additionally, Water for Elephants screenwriter Richard LaGravenese was nominated for his work on Terry Gilliam’s The Fisher King (1991); production designer Jack Fisk(Sissy Spacek’s husband) and set decorator Jim Erickson shared a nomination for There Will Be Blood (2007); and costume designer Jacqueline West has been up for two Oscars: Quills (2000) and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008).

The campfire about the lady who was visited by Rob has me REALLY upset. Here's why...

When the Orprah show announced that they were looking for Twilight fans to be on the show, I sent in an email. I NEVER believed they would call me.

Monday, I got a call from someone named Steph from the Oprah show. She said that my email caught her attention because I was an over 30 African-American mom and I didn't fit the "normal" profile of a Twi-fan. She asked if I had a few minutes to talk about why I was a fan. We talked for a while and I told her about my semi-obsession with Rob.

She told me that the show was booked but that they would like me to Skype in (the same thing they told the woman who Rob visited)

Here is where the problem came in, the day and time that they wanted me to Skype, I have class. This was also the day and time of one of my finals. I called my professor and the asshole said he would not allow make-ups. I had to turn down the Oprah show.

Now, I am in  Chicago. I am actually only about 2 1/2 miles away from Oprah's studio. The lady he visited said that Rob went to 3 houses. ONE OF THEM COULD'VE BEEN MINE!!!

I keep thinking about how things would have gone if he would have came here. I have a fully stocked bar in my basement, so we definitely could have had a good time.

To make this interactive...if Rob had shown up at your door, How would the meeting have gone?

So, if anyone knows me you'll know I do not like Kristen Stewart. My dislike has never stemmed from how she is in public since I don't believe tabloids and I don't exaclty know many interviews with her....I just don't like her in relation to Twilight.

BUT! It's recently been brought to my attention that I don't really like a whole lot of the acting in Twilight, and the script may in fact be the cause. Anything in public, well, in my opinion she's gotten much better, and that's all I ask for.

I saw Adventureland, liked it, but thought she played herself. I saw The Runaways and thought she was awesome but figured it was because the part just seemed to...fit better. Which got me thinking...What other parts does she fit well in?

Kristen lovers, wanna rec me some movies? I don't know why I want to like her so bad but this itch isn't going to go away until I see some movies, and I rather they not be the movies that no one likes anyway.

(P.S. I lied by the way, the reason I want more is probably because she made out with a girl the last movie....That makes me happy)

 So I was at this group dinner the other night and the guy sitting across from me happened to be a reporter with the LA Times. It was a totally surreal experience, the stories he told were INSANE. now normally i don't really care much about celebrity culture and shit like that, but he started out talking about harry potter and how nice the kids are(someone asked him, he wasn't just being really arrogant or anything) and the sets and i mean come on. i fucking love hp, i was HOOKED. and somehow the hunger games came up in the conversation and he said they were casting it right now. and i was like WHAT? who who who?( i think i'm a fucking owl in my next life) and he told me they were thinking about casting the girl from Kick-Ass.

Now i'm not sure what to think of this. I mean, i haven't seen kick-ass but i heard she was good. but she's also only 13. I also don't think this is definite yet, but thats who he said they were leaning towards.

So what do you think?

Edit: oh i forgot. he also said that he interviewed Kstew (i had asked him about the runaways, cause i'm in love with that movie) and he said that he couldn't stand her, and that she was surly, petulant, and self-obsessed. which made me kind of sad, cause i think shes pretty awesome.

Another Edit: ok i think i made it sound too up in the air. this guy is like THE person who writes about movies at LA Times. he has been the only one allowed on several different movie sets. like the super secretive movie inception. he was the only reporter they allowed on set. if he is saying its her, i believe him. the only reason i was hesitant to say its definitely her is because i didn't press him on it at all. it just went like, who are they casting? that girl from kick-ass. and then the convo moved along. but really, he's reliable.

Maria(the lucky fan) says: Well....it all started with an email to the Oprah show. I just told her that the entire family were huge fans and if you came over and you were NOT a twilight fan then "YOUR NOT COMING". Where? We didn’t know. We just said your not coming to anything with us unless you were a fan. They apparently loved that line. So Sunday night they called and said that the show was totally booked but there might be a slight chance that we can pre tape something with skype. Now...she said a very slim chance. They were calling thousands of people. She asked me to send pics of my family. So in order to get their attention I thought I would be a great idea to take pictures as the “Cullen Family”. I waited all day on Monday to hear from them to see if we would be doing the skype thingy. Just when I started to give up it was around 10:30pm and they called. THE TWILIGHT PICTURES DID THE TRICK. They were so amazed on how my son Giuseppe looked so much like Edward. They told me to expect a skype kit to pre-tape a very short segment around 8pm on Tuesday night. They told me a hundred times “Sorry the show is full & we couldn’t give you tickets. So on Tuesday the skype kit came and I waited all day again for directions on how it was going to work. They called at 5pm and said we were going to do a practice run with skype and we would be live with oprah on the show in the morning. They told us do not dress up wear comfortable cloth because you will be moving furniture and it was just a test run. She actually told us to wear our pjs. At 8pm they called us on the skype cam to set everything up. We wasted about on hour just setting up the room. They kept telling me make sure all the blinds are close the camera is sensitive to light. (which now I know it’s because they didn’t want us to see him pull up.) They were asking random questions really just filling in time until I saw a camera crew through the small window on my front door and the people on skype heard me and said “go open the door” Well….that was it we all lost it. Screaming like a bunch of maniacs. Rosanna was crying, Giuseppe was frozen and everyone else was jumping a screaming. He stayed for about 10 minutes. Even though it felt like a week. And we just were all amazed that he was in our house. I told him me and Rosanna stalked him in NYC for the Remember Me premiere and he said “yeah I think I remember you” which was an obvious joke. I asked him is Kristen was here too and he said “well fine…I’ll just leave then”. Other things were said but I was in so much shock I cant remember. It is so weired. His lips were moving and I know he was talking but all I heard was wah wah wah. (kind of like snoopy and Charlie Brown). Then he told us we had tickets to the show. Again lots of screaming. He was great. So nice. Funny. And sooo tall. You was beautiful. I still cant believe it. So we went to the show and they had our names on our seats so we felt to privileged. Robert, Taylor, Kristen, & Dakota all sat and talked to oprah and then they showed the footage of him knocking on doors. He went to 3 homes in Naperville. We were the last ones. When he was leaving my house he said to the camera “I really want to stay and hang out at this house.” It was amazing. We all got a certificate to order Bella’s engagement ring from eclispe. The audience got to see the movie while he made his visit to our house. It is something we will never forget. Oprah & Robert was great but hearing my kids say “thanks for making this happen”……absolutely priceless!!!

This morning, i saw New Moon and it was like I was seeing Embry for the first time. I thought he was cute before but today something just changed and he became the new Jacob (for me).
