Grand Jeté By: stella luna sky
Bella's life is full of certainty and boredom. A dance instructor without passion, she has no idea that the handsome man in her night class will teach her how every moment could be her big moment, and how every breath could be the last
~Grand Jeté, a dance term that means a great leap. Bella has recently led a life of privilege, after Renee remarried Phil, who was a very successful contractor and owned a construction business in the Pacific Northwest. She has a luxury condo she shares with room-mate Emily, drives a nice car, and works as a ballet dance instructor with Esme - her mentor, confidante, and surrogate mother. But Bella feels like she is just going through the motions and wonders what it would be like to just put herself out there.
It just so happens there is this guy in her night class that she can't help but stare at. Even after several weeks when he finally catches her staring and their eyes lock, she can't look away. He tries to tell her in a glare to stop and look away. There's something haunting about the look behind his tired eyes, and why does he always wear that cap and bandanna? Come to find out, he is broke and almost destitute in a run down apartment with a mattress on the floor and can't afford to run the heater. Of course he doesn't think he's good enough for her and tries to keep her at a distance. She decides to take that great leap for this broken man. Such a sweet story!
For the Summer By: camoozle
Every year Bella waits for the 'Pay Checks' to roll into her sleepy river town and every year Edward's hers, just for the summer.
~‘For the Summer' is a classic fic that documents first and foremost how Edward and Bella develop a fast friendship that slowly becomes more, but it is always met by the heartache of separation at the end of the summer. We get the hunch that Edward always considers her to mean more to him than just the ‘river girl' he meets up with for the summer. Bella wants so much to be more, but faces the dilemma of trying to hold herself back, thinking as he goes back to his privileged life that she can never be more than that to him. Camoozle's development of her other characters is just as amazing as we watch them grow from awkward kids to young adults.
If you have ever been to the waterfront during the summer where you practically live in your swimsuit, can hear the water's hypnotic lapping against the dock, feel the roughed texture of the boards scratching against the back of your thighs, and feel the little trickles of sweat that run down the back of your neck as you watch the fat fish rolling on top of each other when you feed them old bread, this story will bring it all back. Every little experience and sensation that camoozle describes is so remarkably vivid, it will immediately make you feel like you are right in the middle of it. Each chapter is a different summer written appropriately for what they would be thinking and going through at that age, and it's just outstanding to get into that mindset. Follow along as they do Ouija boards, play capture the flag, learn to water ski and more!
I hope everyone is safe and healthy! Take care of yourselves!
Please Read, Review and let the writers know you found them here at ADF!
