Let’s dive right in, shall we?
A Little Piece of My Heart by Sukiethree
After moving to San Francisco for her dream job, Bella lives her life to the fullest, even though a little piece of her heart is missing. It's small enough to be missed but large enough to know something is missing. A story of not knowing what you have until it's almost too late.
~Wait...what is Edward doing? What are they both doing?
A Prescription for Love by tufano79
Bella Swan works as a nurse at Cook County Hospital in the ER. She's older and desperate for love. It's hindered by her shy personality and plump body. Her father, whom she lives with, teases her relentlessly for being fat and single. Edward Cullen, thirty-three, is hired as a doctor in the ER. Will she allow Dr. Cullen into her life or will she let her insecurities get in the way?
~I am really enjoying this. Bella has been dealt a crappy hand in life and deserves the opportunity to turn it around.
Can You Feel It? By: Fyrebyrd
Edward Cullen likes his women willing, his liquor hard, and his drugs any way he can get them. He parties all night and sleeps 'til noon, only to wash, rinse, and repeat the next day. He flies as close to the sun as he can, hoping he'll one day get burned.
~Whoa...Edward has some demons tormenting him, for sure. He’s just trying all these things to feel anything. Makes you wonder what happened.
Ink and Nails by JA Mash
When Edward Cullen is hired to work on heartbroken writer Isabella Swan's property, will he end up fixing a lot more than just her house?
~Very sweet development so far. Drabble format
The Remnants By: maembe13
When a forensic archaeologist is called to investigate an old gravesite, he isn't prepared for what he finds. He unearths a long-forgotten tragedy and the story of an unbridled obsession that consumed all in its path.
~Want something completely different? This one is blowing me away - like the iconic plume of smoke coming from my brain. Very mysterious and well-written.
Bag Boy By: bornonhalloween
When the town cougar needs a zucchini, the bag boy at the local market gets a tip that's more than he bargained for.
~A spicy taste of a pairing that will raise a few eyebrows and takes you on a truly twisting journey to find a unique happiness. So great to have another story from born!
Coming to Terms By: GinnyW 31
A one night stand, a handful of condom wrappers, and Bella decides she's meant to be alone. Fate has other plans
~I’m going to post this here as it seems the best fit. Published in 2012, this story remained incomplete for years until this month when we were treated to the final two chapters; an epilogue and outtake to come. A story about a very stubbornly independent woman learning to deal with the lasting repercussions of a wild one night stand and the baby-daddy that came with it.
Devil With the Blue Dress On By: MissLiss15
In the era of tie-dye and lava lamps, Bella is the epitome of the modern young woman. Though she exudes everything he hates, Edward is inexplicably drawn to her when he runs into her on a business trip. Just don't tell his high society fiancée.
~A story of abandoning the ingrained and expected social norms and finding your own brand of happiness.
Sing for Absolution By: ponzer
Six years have passed since Edward left. Now as a college graduate, and with a child, Bella works as a high school teacher in Rochester. What will Edward do when he and his family enroll in Westmore and Bella's scent undoes him? Bella is no longer the plain, blushing wallflower. How many rivals will he have to contend with? How far will he have to go to win her back?
~A unique alternate ending for the original Twilight tale where Bella has moved on and lives a full life. Edward realizes the folly of his lies and trying to leave her and has to absolve himself of his past mistakes to win her back.
Congrats ponzer on steering this to completion!
White Noise By: Hotteaforme
Waitress Bella wants nothing to do with her boyfriend's shady drug dealings. When he forces her to do him a favor, she finds herself on the wrong side of the wrong sort of people… all except one. M for a reason
~What a story of epic struggle - with conflict, drama and angst every single chapter. I opened each chapter with a sense of dread for fear of what else was going to happen to these characters!
Letters to Corporal Masen by solostintwilight
Writing to offer a bit of home to a soldier overseas, she discovers words can bind a friendship. Lonely in war-torn Europe, he finds hope in letters from a stranger. What happens when the war is over?
~I'm old enough I can remember when there was no internet, no computers, no cell phones, kindles or iPads. Can you imagine communication without these? Back in the 1940s, during the setting of this story, most homes had phones - landlines of course, everyone listened to the radio for news, and fortunate homes could afford black and white televisions. The most common form of correspondence, however, was letter writing by what we now call 'snail mail', and if you were mailing overseas, it could take weeks to arrive. If it was during a war, a month even. Can you imagine the anticipation, the anxiety, waiting to hear from a loved one?
It was WWII and everyone was trying to do their part to help. Bella lost her job at the library when it closed down. She wanted to work with her roommates Rosalie and Alice, but couldn't stomach the nurse's work. Esme hired her to be an assistant to do non-medical work, like reading to the men, shaving them, helping them to eat, anything to help them be more comfortable. She was good at what she did and hoped she made a difference.
When Renee pressured her to participate in a soldier pen pal program, she had no idea what to write. What do you say to a stranger? Dear Soldier . . . Weeks later, she had almost forgotten about it when she got a letter in return, from a Corporal E. A. Masen. Hmmm . . .
As the correspondence progresses, a friendship flourishes, and then as times get tough, it becomes more. Bella provides encouragement, comfort and hope to an exhausted lonely soldier, stuck in trenches in bitterly cold weather with nothing more to eat sometimes than watery soup. He provides a reason for her lonely shy heart to beat. But then the letters stop. Sweet jeezus, it will wrench your heart right out of your chest! Brilliant plot development!
I hope everyone is safe and healthy! Take care of yourselves!
