yWrite to Scrivener

Saturday August 17, 2013 at 8:21 PM

Does anyone have experience importing/exporting files between these two programs?

I've been writing in yWrite, and while I do love the program, I want to move to Scrivener. From what I've read it seems like it will be better for the rewriting/editing process!!!

The problem is that I have everything in yWrite and no idea how to get it to Scrivener! I see the import thing, but when it says to choose the file I don't know what to do from there!!!

Anyone who can help, your advice and instructions would be greatly appreciated!!

"Ta-Ta, London ..."

Saturday August 17, 2013 at 3:46 PM

TA-TA LONDON. HELLO, AWESOME.

We talked about Americans a week or two ago.

I read this, and don't think it's completely fair.

I did occasionally feel like an "overly enthusiastic Labrador puppy" at times when I was in England, however.

It was hard not to love on a country that is so damn cool but bashful about its awesomeness.

Thoughts from Americans, Brits, or others who have visited either or both places?

If I could live anywhere at all, it would probably be London or San Francisco.

Veggie Tales

Saturday August 17, 2013 at 12:16 PM

Campers, if you didn't see the Chicken campfire last weekend then you're missing out on some potentially amazing recipes. I'm drooling just remembering it! We had such a good turn out, I figured we could do it again this weekend. Our theme today is vegetables.

I'm from the south- I like my carrots to be honey-glazed, my beans to be simmered all day with onion and pork fat, and my broccoli to be steamed and super buttery. Yeah....not the most healthy. I need some new ideas and ways to cook them, stat!

Post your favorite veggie recipes- but hold off on the POTATOES!!!! Spuds will get their own special campfire next weekend :-D

Rob gets his hair out

Saturday August 17, 2013 at 5:24 AM

Making a rare appearance outdoors, Rob Pattinson's hair was photographed yesterday.  The usually shy follicles were gelled, erect and looking confident, harking back to the innocent days of early Twilight films, before paps and meticulously observant fans exposed the locks (along with clothing choices, jewelry or lack of, and other meaninglessful gestures) with high res images and red circles.

Today's exposure was short-lived.  Later in the evening, at a local concert, they were once again shrouded and swaddled in a fetching red beanie.

HUBBA, HUBBA.

Interaction...interaction...can't think...

Desert Island Fics?

Friday August 16, 2013 at 10:39 PM

I stumbled across Earthquake! By Thallium 81 recently, and was pleasantly surprised.  This particular genre tends to be predictable, but she subverts expectations again and again.  The writing is great and her Bella is strong, dynamic, and independent.  If you haven't read it, I highly recommend you do.  Anyway, it reminded me that I've got a real soft spot for desert island/castaway stories.  I've compiled a rather sad list of the few (very few...exactly two to be precise) that I have read, but if you could recommend any favorite desert island fics,  please do!  I would greatly appreciate it!  Thanks!

EARTHQUAKE!

Charlotte NC meetup on Aug 10, 2013 - meetup

Friday August 16, 2013 at 11:22 AM

We had the best time at our meetup in Charlotte NC last weekend.

First was lunch at Macs Speed Shop, a motorcycle themed bar.  There was no need to break the ice because when we met we started talking immediately.  Everyone was talking and laughing and it was LOUD.

There was a table next to us of HOT MILITARY GUYS and they were staring at us BLATANTLY .

After lunch we went to the hotel where some of us were staying at and we talked fics, the books, and movies.  Again, it got LOUD.  I don't know why whenever we talked Twilight related things, it just got loud.  LOUD talking and laughing.

We played the Twilight Scene-It game and there were Twilight themed prizes.

Some of us kind of screamed like they won the lottery when they won a prize, but they will remain nameless.

Musicdaydreams flew in from NYC, and the rest of us were from North and South Carolina.

We want to have another meetup to take the place of not having a new Twilight movie in November, so we are thinking about a meetup on November 2 or 9, either in Charlotte NC or Greenville SC.

PS Thank you ADF for letting me post the meetup info and so that that we could meet up with these great local twifans :D

I don't know how to write this without sounding at least a bit bitter. But in reality I'm just disappointed.

i don't understand why fanfic authors don't follow their readers back or at least don't have a locked account on twitter.

for me, if I follow an author I like, it's not like reading a gossip magazine and following your favorite artist, just for the gossip.

It's about talking to them about their fics, how much you enjoy it, saying something you forgot to say on a review.

or talking to that author about another fic you are both reading.

i know it can get confusing if you have thousands of people following you, but at least don't lock the account so you can see when someone mentions you.

people were upset with SM saying she was over Twilight.... In a smaller scale this is very similar. I know authors are not getting paid millions for their fics, but most of them keep writing and enjoy the encouragement the reviewers give you. So why shun your readers? I know it can be time consuming, but a balance can be found.

For all those authors that actually interact with their readers my respect for you is doubled. It's lovely to see that my favorite writers are also nice people.

Edit: I think now those authors will never follow me back. Lol

We here at ADF are a friendly, helpful bunch!

If you have a request for a type of story or a book,
this is your spot.

If you are unsure about something that has to do with ADF,
ask here.

If you have amnesia about a fic,
this is the place to ask about it!

If you are unsure about something that DOES NOT have to do with ADF,
ask here as well!

That's right. We're not going to judge you if you want to know about what your next knitting project should be when you get done with all of these damn baby sweaters.

Maybe that's just me.
