Hello lovelies!
It's been a while (forever, really) since we had a vocaroo post. We've always really enjoyed those and thought it's about time we hear each other's voices again, right?
So come on, hop on in and be silly with us!
How does it work?
You'll find a list of questions / words below. Go to Vocaroo and record yourself! Don't be embarrassed, let's just have some fun!
What's your name, username and where are you from?
Pronounce the following words: Aunt, Roof, Route, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Prometheus, Fire, Water, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Pajamas, Caught, Croissant, Naturally, Aluminium, Zeus.
We decided to skip some of the standard questions (because I think we've done them in the last 2 vocaroo-posts) and added a new twist. Last time we were teased with some very special English words (Woolloomooloo? Really?) so this time we thought we'd mix it up a bit and added some words that may be tough for people who aren't native in that language (we're a super international bunch after all!).
Here we go:
Linguaggio (Italian for language)
Prithvi (Hindi for earth)
Streichholzschächtelchen (German for matchbox)
Grenouille (French for frog)
Kukur (Bengali for dog)
Seekoei (Afrikaans for hippo)
Koejawel (Afrikaans for guava)
Read this poem:
Hear me say, devoid of trickery,
Daughter, laughter, and Terpsichore,
Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles,
Exiles, similes, and reviles;
Scholar, vicar, and cigar,
Solar, mica, war and far;
One, anemone, Balmoral,
Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel;
Gertrude, German, wind and mind,
Scene, Melpomene, mankind.
Open the book that's nearest to you on page 32. Read the first two sentences.
Do you think you have an accent?
And a bonus for very brave ones: a german tongue twister:
Blaukraut bleibt Blaukraut und Brautkleid bleibt Brautkleid.
(the meaning is quite nonsensical but it's red cabbage remains red cabbage and a wedding dress remains a wedding dress)
Embed instructions for your vocaroo:
Go to Vocaroo (link above) and click on "click to record". Once you're done click "Click to stop". Now you can listen to it, if you're unhappy you can retry (but come on, where's the fun in that?) so once you know this is the stuff you want everyone else to listen to you click on the link below the box where it says "Click here to save" Then you can either copy the link or embed the whole thing. To embed it you copy the embed code. On ADF you click on the video/film icon on the left of the "bold" button. Insert the code there, click on ok and let us hear your beautiful voice :)
If that was a bit unclear or if you're having troubles inserting the link, just leave a comment and we'll try to figure out a way to embed this link!
