So New Moon comes out in a few weeks. Because of work and school I haven't had much time to do my research on what DVD/Blu-Ray packages are out. I'm sure there's other people who are having the same debate on what to buy, so I've decided to make a post with some information.
Target is offering:
- 2 Disc (Special Edition) DVD for $20.99
- Feature Length Commentary with Chris Weitz and Peter Lambert
- The Journey Continues: 6-Part Documentary on the making of New Moon
- Rehearsal footage Muse and music videos for Anya Marina, Death Cab for Cutie, and Mute Math
- 3 Disc Deluxe Edition DVD that can only be found at Target for $24.99
- Standard Edition 2-Disc DVD
- Exclusive third disc that contains over 60 minutes of never before seen content*
- Collectible film cell
*The content on the exclusive disc is: Deleted Scenes; Introducing the Volturi featurette, Frame by Frame: From Storyboard to Screen featurette, A Look at the Die Hard Fans, and The Beat Goes On: The Music of New Moon featurette*
-The Blu-Ray editions follow the same format as far as content is concerned. The 2-Disc ($29.99) is just the same as the 3-Disc DVD except it's been condensed into two. And the Special Edition Blu-Ray ($22.99) is the same as the Standard 2-Disc DVD except it has been condensed into one.
Walmart is offering:
- 2 Disc Special Edition DVD (Ultimate Fan Edition with Bonus Footage to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) for $24.96
- Anamorphic widescreen
- Collectible Lenticular packaging
- 7-minute sneak preview of Eclipse that includes a behind-the-scenes look at production, interviews with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Stephenie Meyer that are integrated with revealing, on-the-set footage. The preview concludes with a scene from the film between Edward and Bella that apparently "will surely have Twilight fans swooning" (righttt)
- 2 Disc Special Edition DVD (Ultimate Fan Edition with Bonus Footage to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)/ Twilight in Forks (Walmart Exclusive) for $29.96
- Same stuff. You just get a crappy documentary to go along with it for another $5
-Walmart's Blu-Ray offers follow the same kind of deal as Target. You can get the regular Blu-Ray (and not be an ultimate fan) for $21.86. Or you can buy the 2-Disc Ultimate Fan Edition Blu-Ray for $29.96
Borders is offering:
- Borders Exclusive 2-Disc Edition DVD with Medallion for $29.99
- Standard 2-Disc features
- Medallion necklace on silver chain that has the Wolf Pack tatt on one side and the Cullen crest on the other
- Previously unreleased extended scenes
- Interviews with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, the Cullen family, the Wolf Pack, the Volturi, and Chris Weitz
- Apparently unrivaled red carpet footage from the premiere (I'm assuming it's the LA premiere)
- Front row seats to the New Moon Webcast
- Packaging that compliments the Twilight DVD packaging from last year
-Borders is also offering the Standard 2-Disc version without all that junk for $22.99. The Blu-Ray version is the same as the regular 2-Disc DVD versions out there - it's being sold for $24.99.
Barnes & Noble is offering:
-2 Disc Special Edition for $23.09*
- Contains all the same features as the other 2 Disc versions
-The Blu-Ray version has the same features and is being sold at 27.99** There is also another version that is being advertised that contains the same features as the 2 Disc but also contains some B&N exclusives. This version also comes with a dreamcatcher. Unfortunately when you click for more information though, the page doesn't exist.
*Barnes & Noble members pay $20.78 for the 2 Disc version
**Barnes & Noble members pay $23.09 for the Blu-Ray version
Most of these versions, if not all of them, can be pre-ordered online for your convenience. So the question now is: which one to buy? Take it to the comments, campers.
