We like to do things here in the forest and in honor of "Fandom Pay It Forward Day" we decided that a  RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS post was neccessary. While we love TELLING about the love, we want to show it, too.

Everone needs a little kindness. Mom was always there with a popsicle or a bandaid. Dad put chains on your tires on an icy morning. The carnation in your school locker from a secret admirer made you smile... you get the idea.

Random acts of kindness make the world brighter. So if you're needing a little sunshine as February drags on, let it out here. Say what would put the sauce on your tamale, and someone else will randomly make your wish come true. And once your cockles are warmed by the milk of human kindness, do that pay it forward thing and make someone else's day.

Come on Campers, show someone how you much you love. Make them a playlist, dedicate a song to them, write them a one-shot,give them some paid LJ time, make a banner, give them a particular download they wanted- it doesn't matter-just give back.

That's the way the Random Acts of Kindness work here in the forest. Giving back in domino effect. Go!

I have just finished reading Pride and Prejudice for the second time. I love everything Jane Austen. That had me wondering. Are there any books/authors that you like and have read multiple times?

Are there any B/E stories like P&P? Please recommend me some.

Who is your Darcy and your Elizabeth? Do you like the 2005 movie or the TV miniseries?

I started a fic recently. It came by recommendation, large number of reviews and all that. The first chapter had multiple racist remarks made by the main character. I finished the chapter, thinking maybe there is a reason for this nonsense, knowing that there is never a reason for it. I checked reviews of the chapter to see if anyone else had an issue with this. Only one person mentioned it. I will not be going back.

Is this acceptable in fic? Racism and hate? Suppose it's gay bashing, misogyny or other bigotry. What do you think about this? Do you lose respect for the character immediately? Do you flounce, or do you allow them a chance to redeem themselves? What if they never do? Is it irresponsible for an author to allow the character to say these things, without repercussion? Anyone ever come across an author blatantly propagating hateful thoughts?

Help me out. I need some perspective. I have a no tolerance policy on this. . .am I wrong here?

Target is offering:
