Okay, I think about this a lot.

(please delete if this has been discussed before! I don't know what I'm doing!)

What's the deal with birth control being mentioned constantly in stories? I understand that a lot of us are trying to assure readers that no one will be getting pregnant, but sometimes it's just...uch. I know a lot of authors who do a wonderful job mentioning a condom, or the pill, in their chapters. I've mentioned it 100 times myself. But lately, it's like the chapter before the 'lemon' or right before sex, there's always an awkward talk, or Edward just sees Bella's birth control hanging out by the bed, or I'm being given yet another lesson on how condoms work. I don't even know why this bothers me... It doesn't matter, I suppose.

My questions are: are authors responsible for teaching readers about safe sex and contraception? Do readers need to be assured constantly? Do we even enjoy the constant references? Are we incapable of just assuming someone used something because SM gave us Nessie and we are all terrified of Nessie II in whatever fic it is that we're reading?

I'm obviously an advocate for safe sex. This is NOT what my campfire is about. Just wondering what others think about this sort of 'requirement' in fic.

People who are forced to spend long amounts of time with me on gchat/Skype/Twitter know that I'm obsessed with two scenes in Twilight.

Scene 1: Ray-Bans, Volvo, Angela's "Oh. My. God." Come on - R is so pretty that I scream a little (mostly silently) every time I see him place his arm around her shoulder.

Scene 2: Edward jumps onto Bella's truck? I think? He looks adorable. OmgRobissoprettyinthatscene. He says something about taking her to meet his family.

Okay - so here's the thing. I know there must be videos/gifs of these two precious moments out there, and I've definitely seen Scene 1 on YouTube, but I couldn't find Scene 2 when I searched for it one night, and I am SO lazy. So, if ANY of you have links, gifs, nice pictures, anything - let me know?

yeah, so I went MORE north for my birthday fun this year.  Which was ironic.  I was all set to move to FL this time last year.  Like, hubby quit his job and we were PACKING.  So you will agree with me when I say that going to MAINE for my birthday was ironic.

The rain in Maine does NOT stay mainly on the plane and it drove me INSANE and was a pain in the arse last week.

Flooding and power outages were still better than snow, but really.

So why did I begin this campfire, you ask?

I began this campfire to find out what wonderful windings you have wound in the world of writing this past month.  Care to share techniques, challenges, snippets, excerpts, successes that you may have had, hurdles you jumped or grades you aced?

I would love to hear about the (un) official world of fic writers we have here.  I would especially love to hear from our beginners but that is not to leave out our veterans...that is to say that I would hate to distract you from your current fic writing all you veterans.

I am calling out all our lurking squirrels, hibernating skunks (as its Spring now and time to wake up please) and even, yes, the BEARS.  "Irritable Grizzly" is a favorite about these parts.

i just watched "becoming part 2", aka the time in my life that i've never sobbed harder, including the first time i ever got my heart broken.  even now, the 654654687436543687th time i've watched it, i cried.  and my kid wanted to know why buffy had to kill agent booth and i told him to go away so i could die inside in peace.

what do you watch/read/listen to when you want a good cry?  let's share good heartcrushing stuff.

alternately, discuss how there will never be a better television show than buffy the vampire slayer.

Hello campers!

Yesterday, I had to drive with my windows down as it was pouring rain outside to avoid inside car fog and as I'm shivering my buns off,  I wondered...

Were Bella's nipples constantly perky from hugging Edwards cold dead body all the time? If so, how did she avoid people staring at her permanent nipple bullseye's?

Personally, if my bra doesn't provide enough padding I slap a bandaid on them puppies. What do you lovely ADF ladies do??

Also, does it bother anyone else when random nipples look like they're trying to break through shirts in movies?
