Diving Deep for Fan Fic Treasures

Each week I will brave the treacherous waters of Fan Fiction for buried treasure. Below are the gems I've found this week!

Hope all of our campers are safe from the crazy storms happening in the Mid-West!

Don't forget your 3R's.  Read, Review and Recommend!

A Welcome Interruption by d3lyricool3xi
Successful wedding planner Isabella Swan just wants to rest in a comfy recliner with a mug of hot chocolate and her favorite novel after a hard day at work, but she's interrupted by a knock on her door. A girl can't seem to get any alone time around here... But will she want it after she sees who's on the other side? BxE, rated M for language/lemons. Summary inside.

Romance and Drama in this one.  She falls for him, but he's leaving to follow his dream.  :(

A Light in the Darkness by JenRar

On one of history's darkest days, Edward finds his other half. Bella wakes to find that her guardian angel may just be a figment of her imagination. A journey of two lost souls as they find the light when darkness surrounds them.  AU

This one starts out on 9/11 with Bella in one of the towers.  The writer gives an appropriate sensitive subject matter warning at the beginning.  I'm as sensitive to 9/11 as most and felt that she handled it well.  She isn't overly graphic in her descriptions of Bella's experience and moves on from the actual day after the first few chapters.  It is a vamp fic after all, so that lightens some of the heavy realistic drama.  It isn't 9/11 focused.  More Bella's life after and how she and Edward find each other again with a little help from Alice.

After the Gold by DH78
This little story was born out of late night Twitter conversations and gushing over Meryl & Charlie, the fabulous American gold medal ice dancers. We ship them. Spangly wanted it written. So it shall be done. So can childhood friends become more? We say HELL YES.

Sweet quick fic with Charlie and Meryl as inspiration.  I'd love to see Edward the Ice Dancer!!

FLASH BACK FIC DIVE:

After All by Scorp112
Bella survived the accident that killed her mother, & it changed everything. Stuck in a deep depression, she struggles to move on with her life. Will Bella face her demons & let Edward help her move forward? Or will her guilt & sadness destroy her?

Sexy Doc-ward.

The Mystery of You by DivineInspiration

Mystery writer Edward Cullen stumbles upon a mystery greater than the ones he writes: Isabella Swan. Life happens as he unravels the mystery. AH. Canon couples.

Sexy Writer-ward.

Fuggiasco by kdc2239
Edward, homeless since age twelve is used to the gritty, hard life. Now twenty, his main goal is to make it in the world, and off the streets. What happens when a girl who seems to be broken beyond repair becomes his new shadow

Sexy Street-ward

Apparently my mind is in the Sexy Gutter-ward this week.

Enjoy all and thanks for your feedback and support!

Looking for a pulled fanfic!!

Sunday April 27, 2014 at 10:06 PM

Hey everyone! i haven't been here in forever (kinda fell off the twilight scene for a while :/) but recently i decided to go back to my old fanfiction stories and reread them! However, imagine my imense disappointment and surprise when i saw that one of my old favorites was no longer online :( So i decided to come here to see if anyone happens to have a pdf version of it saved on their comp

the fic im talking about is Miss My Lion by Dyedinwool which was such an great story that wasn't finished the last time i checked on it. i really loved the author's writing style and was very sad when i saw she deleted her fanfiction profile all together

SO IF ANYONE AT ALL KNOWS HOW I CAN GET MY HANDS ON THIS AMAZING STORY I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL

Little robots that clean the floor?

Saturday April 26, 2014 at 10:39 PM

I'm seriously thinking of buying one, but I don't know which one. Of course I want to go for the cheapest ones (aroun 20 euro bwahahaha), but they don't do much. The 100 euro ones are supposed to be better, 200 euro even better, and there's the 500 euro scooba robotic floor washer, a lot of money, A LOT, but, seriously, if it does the work for me I'd rather never buy anything else again or something

Anyone familiar with these things? Would you recommend it?

Prints

For those of you who wanted to know about my printing experience. Here is the picture of the 3 supports I chose to analyse.

 photo DSC00827_zps1ab62225.jpg

The left photograph is aluminium. It is very beautiful when you have the right angle and the right light. It is probably a very good support when your picture has light colours. The second picture is coated with half an inch of acrylic. It is the most beautiful of the 3. The colours are vibrant and it's very shiny even when it's dark. The third medium is a German paper of a very high quality. The paper absorbs the ink in a way that it respects the original colours. The printing company could print my picture in its original format with the paper where on the other medium I had to choose one of their dimensions, luckily they offered a wide range of format. The paper is 18" x 32" for about 45$. Acrylic and aluminium are about $180 each for 18" x 36".

I received this week a confirmation from my local Museum for an exhibition from September 2015 to January 2016. I will have a 60 feet long wall x 12 feet high to exhibit my ice crystals. I'm very excited about my life at this moment and I never thought I would one day say "I can't wait to see winter coming back".

For those of you who wish to see more of my pictures my address is Ice Crystals.ca

My question for you. What kind of camera do you have and/or which one would you buy if you had a 1000$ budget?

I'm just really passionate about food, okay?

Saturday April 26, 2014 at 12:14 PM

Someone please explain this Paleo fascination to me.

I kind of get it. I kind of really don't though either.

But let me start at the beginning:

I bought ingredients to make brownies. I have everything at home that I thought I could possibly need: eggs, milk, flour, a ton of chocolate, butter - all the stuff for some good, decadent brownies.

So imagine my surprise when I headed over to Pinterest (which is usually a very good source for recipes) and most of the recipes I could find were “sugar-free”, “fat-free”, “gluten-free”, “flourless”, paleo or some other nonsense.

I know that there are a lot of people who fully embrace paleo and raw food diet but if I want a brownie, I want all of it. I want the sugar, the chocolate, the flour, everything.
So yes, having new possibilities is good and I’m all for it. I’m not opposed to giving it a try either but since when is it almost impossible to find a normal brownie recipe?

I'm not angry as much as I'm upset about these things. I like cheese, chocolate, alcohol & bread. Stop canceling these things from recipes!

So how about you? What are your thoughts on these things? Have you tried Paleo? I've heard a lot of good things about this from various people, it's just that personally, I like food too much to restrict me in such a way :)
Have you tried any of these "flourless", "sugar-free" recipes? What were your thoughts? Did you notice a huge difference or did it taste just the same?

(Loled while tagging this post. "Why is the rum gone" is just too perfect. Why indeed?!)

Fandom Obsession

Saturday April 26, 2014 at 8:44 AM

When I first read Outlander, I became obsessed with elements of the story and trying to better understand different things about what Jamie and Claire's lives might have been like back in the 1700s.  As a result, I know way more about the Jacobites, Scottish food, colonial homes, and the American Revolution than I ever learned in school.  And don't even get me started on the number of Celtic festivals I've attended since I first started the series.

I spent more time than I'm willing to admit scouring the internet for all things Scottish or 18th century, like:

Scottish food

Colonial fashion (the thoughts of how these must have pinched the toes make me wince)

Red-headed babies (Jem or Bree, take your pick)

And I raised quite a few eyebrows when I stalked followed kilted men all over the Michigan Renfair one year
(Do you see Murtagh there, in the middle?)

But my biggest obsession of all was the Scottish accent (see inside the CF for examples of that).

What silly things have you done under the influence of fandom obsession?  I know my fellow Outlander fans understand this (and some of you are probably just as guilty).  What about you Twilight and Harry Potter fans?  Jane Austen?  Come inside and share your embarrassing fandom shenanigans!

You didn't honestly think I'd forget
the most important part of the post, did you?

Picture This! ~ Nostalgia

Thursday April 24, 2014 at 11:11 AM

Hello Campers!

Today we are posting our favorite NOSTALGIC  photos.

You can interpret it as you wish, but to make it easier, you can also post those 'classic' hairstyles you used to sport.

Does it make you nostalgic for soft rollers, aquanet, the distinct smell of getting your hair permed, or your crimping iron?

Which one of these girls were you?

For next week:

Well, I'm torn.  I'm running out of ideas for Picture This! CFs and I like the promotion of camper bonding, but I know some people don't like to post their pics.  So I have a proposal (and rangers can tell me "No" or I can wait until FFA days): I was thinking of turning the Picture This weekly CF into a generic 'Bondfire'.  So every week I'll think of a bonding topic, but once a month we can do  picture bonding one.  Thoughts?

As always, please feel free to comment in here even if you don't post pics.
