"New Moon" Knoxville premier

Friday November 13, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Ok, so a while ago there was a contest to get tickets to a special premier in Knoxville in which both KStew and Taylor will be attending. Has anyone heard anymore info about this? I cant really find any updated info on it. I just find it so weird that a Knoxville,TN charity was able to get both KStew and Taylor for a premier the same week as the actual movie. I mean, really, Knoxville! I hate that I am so close yet wont be able to get to it.

PS-I have made many comments on this site since it was started, but this is the 1st campfire I have started. It took me a while, but I have finally popped my campfire cherry!

Hey Tor, Charlie says Cheer Up!

Friday November 13, 2009 at 3:28 PM

Larry Carrol at MTV intrerviews Billy Burke who personifies Bella Swan’s loving-but-clueless dad Charlie.

The more you watch “Twilight,” the more you notice what a great impact he was able to make in such a brief amount of time on-screen – and now that I’ve seen “New Moon,” I won’t give anything away while saying that Billy has done it again.“I don’t worry about stealing scenes,” the veteran actor grinned when we asked him whether the term was insulting at all. “I take that as a compliment — thank you very much, that’s very nice. We can’t think about it in terms of that [while we’re acting]; you’ve got to do what feeds the story, and what’s honest about the character as best as possible. And that’s all I’m looking to do.”

In the original film, it was the little stuff — how he drank his beer, that thing he did whirling his finger around — that drew the eyes of the viewer to Charlie. And who can forget the way he cocked his gun when Edward came over to pick up Bella for a date?

“That got a lot of attention, didn’t it?” laughed Burke.

Instead, in the new movie that comes out next week, Burke cracks some impromptu jokes, gives Bella a priceless reaction when she says she wants to go shopping – and as he told us recently, used his real-life newfound fatherhood to inject an extra closeness to his on-screen daughter.

“You always look at what’s on the page, and you’re trying to be honest about what serves the story and about the character, you’re always looking for stuff that you might embellish, and add a little twitch here and a wink there, especially with Charlie,” Burke explained. “That’s aside from serving the purpose of being the moral compass of the stories. You’re looking to see what else you can do to throw in there and mix it up.”

“There are a couple of moments in both movies — ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse'. where hopefully we sparked it up a little bit,” he said of his scenes, typically opposite KStew. “We do play around with it a little bit.”

Digging for Fanfiction

Friday November 13, 2009 at 2:52 PM

I'm looking for new Twilight fanfics to read, preferably ones from new and underappreciated authors. I like AH ones the best, but anything works.

My favorite new fic currently is Where Poppies Grow by La Serenade. It's set during World War II with Bella as a spy for the British. I'm not sure how many other fics have the same theme as this, but I can promise you that this one is awesome. Her writing is so unbelievably intriguing, kinda like SMeyer's.

So tell me, what are your favorite fics?

Spot The Difference - Volvo Style

Edward's Volvo In Twilight

Edward's Volvo In New Moon

Who managed to spot the difference between the two cars?!

I know I did.

Does anyone know exactly why we can spot the difference. And why, I don't know, they aren't the same car?!

Lettuce discuss ;)

New Moon - 5 days to go!!!!

Friday November 13, 2009 at 1:58 PM

New Moon is showing in less than a week and I'm so excited.

Now, I'm here to ask you...

What do you expect in NM? Do you think it will be better than Twilight? What will you think will be the fans reception to the movie, with it predecessor Twilight garnering mostly negative reviews? Do you think changing the directors will invite those who hated Twilight to watch NM?

I honestly do not know what to expect from New Moon... I have a love-hate relationship with the story (love it sometimes... and hate it most of the time. Do you even get me? )

I think changing directors would help invite those fans who were disappointed with Twilight the movie. Also, the previews/trailers were so good that I can't help but be excited for the movie. I know people who had very high expectations for Twilight the movie, and  some of them were disappointed. Some of them will watch the movie but they don't expect much from it this time.

I've uploaded an original artwork in the Carvings archive. But here is it for you:

I was on a radio programme called Switch with Annie and Nick a while back, and they get all their guests to make these badges. Then listeners can print the badges and wear them. I doubt anyone will wear mine as I am a terrible artist.

Ms. Meyer on Oprah

Friday November 13, 2009 at 11:43 AM

It may just be another Friday the 13th to you, but for “Twilight” fans today is something much more significant. It’s the day that author Stephenie Meyer will appear on “Oprah.” And it may also be a chance to catch a sneak preview of “New Moon,” [Ed’s note: Originally the book was mistakenly referred to as “Full Moon”] the film of the second book of Meyer’s “Twilight” teen vampire series, set to open in theaters on Nov. 20.

Meyer’s appearance on Oprah is no small event in itself. By her own admission, the author has been “doing the hermit thing” for about a year now. And she says that her chat with Oprah will be the “one and only” interview she’ll do for “Full Moon.”

Meyer told her fans that she chose the Oprah show because she figured that, “[S]ince I’m only doing one interview, better make it big. Really big.” (She also agreed to take specific fan questions about the movie on her website on Monday and Tuesday of this week.)

Rest of the article Here...

There will be two other guests on the show today (other than Stephanie Meyer), so I don't think the segment will be too long.  Anyone think they'll watch?

Elizabeth Reaser Or Maria Canals-Barrera For Esme?

Friday November 13, 2009 at 11:42 AM

Elizabeth Reaser Or Maria Canals-Barrera For Esme?

Maria Canals-Barrera

Maria Canals-Barreras is an actress that is perfect for Motherly type roles. I have seen her as the Mother in Wizards of Waverly Place, I blame the little siblings, and I have noticed she does ooze that sort of Mother feeling and has a paternal glow constantly. She was always the Esme I pictured. And when they announced Twilight was being made into a movie, I thought that they were going to cast her as Esme. She is beautiful enough for the role, and she is the perfect description of Esme.

Elizabeth Reaser

Elizabeth Reaser is a good actress. Sure. But I would have never thought she would get casted for the role of Esme. Her appearance is stunning, and she would have no problem being good for the part in the looks department. Its when it comes to personality. To me, Elizabeth oozes coldness when playing Esme, and does not play Esme right at all.

Lettuce Discuss

Even now, I cannot picture Elizabth as Esme in my mind, and it always goes to a picture of Maria instead. These are just my opinions, and they have been driving me crazy.

So, thats where you campers come in...

Tell me who you think should have been casted as Esme. Or tell me if there are any other actresses you thought should have played Esme ;)

The author of Bonne Foi (Amethyst Jackson) is tweeting a BxE fic.  So if you feel like having a few snippets of a story at a time, here's your chance! She's updating it daily in chunks at a time, it's been going on for a few days so you'll want to go back and read from the beginning if you're already not following it.  No idea how long it's supposed to be.

Anyway here it is! http://twitter.com/AJwritesafic

Did Catherine Hardwick Out Robsten?

Friday November 13, 2009 at 11:26 AM

Catherine Hardwick’s New Interview With Time – Did She Out Robsten?

Here is an excerpt from her Time interview -

"By all accounts, the chemistry between the two leads was intense, maybe too intense. “After I cast him, I told Rob, Don’t even think about having a romance with her,” Hardwicke says. “She’s under 18. You will be arrested.” It was the beginning of the real-life are-they-aren’t-they, did-they-didn’t-they speculation that is now an ongoing subplot of the Twilight story. “I didn’t have a camera in the hotel room. I cannot say,” Hardwicke says. “But in terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn’t happen on the first movie. Nothing crossed the line while on the first film. I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, O.K., I’ve got to give this a go and really try to be with this person.”

What do you guys think about what Catherine said? Angry? Ecstatic? Too much private info given out? Not enough? Let us know what you think below!

Breaking Dawn

Friday November 13, 2009 at 9:51 AM

This week I attended a conference for my company. In this conference we had presentation by reps for DVD distributers in Canada. Of course, E1 (Entertainment One) who distributes all of Summit's films in Canada had a bit of a presentation on New Moon. Blahblahblah same old speil. HOWEVER, I was very excited by the fact that the rep told us specifically that they had been attempting to throw more and more money at Stephanie Meyer ("she's just not interested") in order for her to write another book. But, alas, she was not biting and he said that that meant that they would in fact be splitting up Breaking Dawn into two different films.

So there you go. Nothing too exciting, but Breaking Dawn's going to be two unless she agrees to write another one. Not really new news, but I like confirmations.

I got a bunch of free New Moon stuff (tote bag, tshirt, soundtrack) and had to attempt to not act a fool and instead subduedly said "not going to lie, I love hot vampires".. the E1 rep also called Rob "Edward Pattinson" which is pretty funny.

I don't know about you, but I'd let this dude impregnant me with his alien vampirish baby.
