Kristen's interview for Radio1

Sunday November 15, 2009 at 5:34 AM

I like her in this interview, she's cool and relaxed. I like that they didn't just ask all the usual questions either.

not sure why Robs pic is there as he isn't in the video. Who knows?

NY Times Article on KSTEW

Saturday November 14, 2009 at 11:16 PM

It's pretty long, so here's an excerpt:

At 19 Ms. Stewart is considered one of the most promising actresses of her generation, with Oscar winners like Sean Penn and Jodie Foster lining up to offer praise.

“I do wish that people would focus more on the work, and I can’t say that I don’t take it personally,” said Ms. Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella Swan, an ordinary high school girl who falls in love with a sensitive vampire, in the forthcoming film “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

“But I understand it because what you do as an actor is so tied up in who you are as a person,” she continued with a deep sigh. “What really kills me — it really rips me up — is when people think I’m abrasive, inconsiderate or ungrateful because I don’t go outside in a bikini and wave to the paparazzi. Come on!”

Life as a teen idol has never been easy. But navigating the obsessive attention of young fans amid today’s media landscape — all Twitter, all YouTube, all TMZ, all the time — can be particularly harrowing. And Ms. Stewart in some ways has it even harder. Because of the grip the “Twilight” franchise has on young girls — the first movie raked in $384 million at the global box office and the books, by Stephenie Meyer, have sold over 70 million copies — she is not just an actress playing a popular role. Instead “Twi-hards” have come to project their version of romantic love on her; Ms. Stewart’s shyness and hints of awkwardness make her accessible to fans in a way Megan Fox is not.

Ms. Stewart has coped with the suffocating attention by giving off an air of inapproachability, a tough exterior that Chris Weitz, the director of “New Moon,” said she has methodically adopted. “If she didn’t, every teenage girl would see her as their best friend,” he said. “They would tear her completely apart.”

In contrast, Mr. Pattinson, who plays the too-tender-to-suck-blood Edward Cullen, acts sheepish and “tries to implode in on himself and turn into a human mumble,” Mr. Weitz said.

The actors of Ms. Stewart’s generation — Zac EfronChris Pine, Selena Gomez, Shia LaBeouf — have witnessed the carnage that fully embracing the limelight in the digital era can bring: Britney, Paris, Lindsay. As such, they have tried to reclaim some of element of mystery, something that results in a lot of foot stomping from a nonstop celebrity news machine.

“The key is not to become a reality show,” said Ms. Foster, who co-starred with Ms. Stewart in David Fincher’s “Panic Room” and was herself a teenage star. “That kind of attention might seem fun right now, but it won’t in 10 years.”

Writers: are there certain things you find especially difficult to write? exposition? dialogue? sex scenes?

Readers: are there certain scenes you hate reading, or that you've noticed aren't usually done well?

For me, I hate reading fight scenes. Usually, the action becomes jumbled, and I never know who is punching who.

Flashbacks are a close second.  I'd rather the character just mention the event in passing rather than read a whole flashback scene about it.

(I just realized that I've written plenty o' fight scenes and flashbacks. Hypocrite is me)

Catch Up Time

Saturday November 14, 2009 at 6:21 PM

Hello my little woodland creatures...I have returned.

I took a little vacay down to Disneyland and I feel like I have missed out on so much.

It's been so long since I have visited the forest and I haven't had a good dosage of Robporn in a while.  I saw a commercial for New Moon while I was down there and almost had a melt down...sad considering I've seen them about a bajillion times.

So fellow campers let me know anything important that I might have missed.

It can be Rob related (pics are always appreciated =)), New Moon related, or just anything exciting about yourself that you want to share.

I missed you all... it's good to be back!!

Grr!

Saturday November 14, 2009 at 3:03 PM

This is my first campfire post..

I know there have been a lot of posts about how twilight has been used to promote everything..
all of which I've laughed at.. seriously..

but i saw one thing that really pissed me off today..

I was in a book shop in cork city today (first time in ages btw) and they have a huge section just for the twilight saga and everything involved with it..
nothing new there, until I noticed Wuthering Heights.

It had a cover, that seemed very similar and along the lines of the Twilight saga covers, and a piece on the front of the cover saying "Bella and Edward's favourite book"

I was so peeved, i actually had to leave the shop.. I know it doesnt seem that big of a deal but really Wuthering Heights has been my favourite book for years, and I don't like the fact that people are now only going to read the book, just because it is mentioned in Eclipse...

Any product that uses Twilight to promote it that has really annoyed you??

*I would put some robporn up.. but I haven't exactly figured out how to do that yet

Uninvited by luabunny abandoned...

Saturday November 14, 2009 at 12:47 PM

So I was going through my FF alert list and was cleaning it out, and noticed Uninvited still there. This story has not been updated since March of this year and even that was an AN. I was holding out hope that she would come back and finish the story but it doesn't look like that it going to happen. Its too bad, it was really a great story and left on a cliffhanger of sorts. It was one of the first stories that I got hooked on when I started reading FF. I hate when great stories get abandoned. I wish someone would finish this one, but I am guessing no one can do that unless getting permission from the original author, which will not happen if she has fallen off the face of the earth. Its just a shame knowing I will never get an ending.

Character deaths, mayhem, angst.....why?

Saturday November 14, 2009 at 9:42 AM

Hello ADF'ers...I've been out of the loop for 2 days and I've missed a bucket load of stuff...I have a lot of catching up to do.

*Spoiler below regarding the end of Remember Me*

There's been discussion recently about things such as character death (post about it in FF and Rob's character in RM)

A lot of you aren't going to be watching the film because of this and avoid fics because of this.

I don't, I love films and books with a lot of pathos and pain, plus sweet moments, there have to be some, and it got me thinking exactly why this is for me and why it's not for others. For me it's because I keep my feelings pretty much under wraps, even for myself a lot of the time, in everyday life. I've just found that life is a lot easier to deal with if I try to feel as little as possible, I guess it's less emotionally dangerous (God, I sound like such a WUSS) but with books and films it's safer...I can get all wrapped up and emotional, and it may affect me for a few days if the film/book was particularly heartbreaking, but I feel okay with that.

What about you? Why do you think you enjoy/don't enjoy films and books that are intensely emotional in some way?

Anna Kendrick Talks Stardom & Robert Pattinson

Saturday November 14, 2009 at 9:05 AM

annakendrick2

Anna talks with Blackbook about stardom and Robert Pattinson.

Do you think your supporting role in Twilight can result in backlash from fans of more serious fare?
I understand a certain amount of backlash to something that’s really popular. I think particularly this being popular with young women, it takes a certain amount of flack. I mean, I can tell you a lot of the actors in Twilight are incredibly talented. It might be something that’s driven toward young females, but it has no bearing on anybody’s acting chops.

003There’s a picture online of Robert Pattinson kissing you. Do people tease you about that?
I have seen fans comment on places that post them, but no one in person has ever said anything but nice things to me about being in Twilight. The fans, when you are removed from them and they’re on the internet, can seem a little scary and overwhelming. Even at the premiere, which was loud and massive and crazy, once you got up to the fans to start signing stuff, they were really warm and respectful.

Is that part of your job a source of anxiety?
Premieres are always interesting. Every time I sort of convince myself that it’s going to be fun, I get a little nervous right beforehand even though it’s coming from a good place. Having that much energy thrown at you is really intense and just a little jarring.

Can you even begin to fathom what Rob is going through?
Yeah, I went Comic-Con and I have never seen anything like it. For whatever reason Rob and Twilight kind of flipped the switch in people’s heads, and all they can do is scream. It is really intense but I kind of wanted to see what it was like for myself. I kind of needed to know first-hand because I’d seen these videos from the first Comic-Con they did. I just figured it was a once in a lifetime kind of thing, so I had to see for myself. And it was every bit as intense and terrifying as I thought it was going to be.

kissing?  If that’s a kiss from Rob, then YES please!!  I want one or two or three from Rob!  LOL!
