Good Morning, Campers!
Today we're going to talk about
IMPORTANT TOPICS.
What do I mean by that?
I'm talking about how you teach your children or how you were taught by your parents about the world around, things that are important to them, the sex talk etc.
In the news last night, I read about a dad whose 10 year old daughter had created a bunch of different social media accounts and had been pretending to be older than she is. Apparently she also has a boyfriend (not sure how old he is), which is against his rules.
Dad's response?
He took a picture of her wearing a shirt saying she was 10 years old and in the fifth grade. He also had her hair clipped up like a kid, and had her carrying a Sofia the First backpack. Then he posted it all over social media accounts.
While I absolutely support his decision to teach her about the possible dangers of social media for kids, I'm on the fence of his method of teaching/discipline. But I don't know her, and maybe this would work for them. Plus I'm sure he was super scared when he found out.
What do you think? How do you teach your kids about these important topics? And for those with and without kids, how were you taught as a child?
I know this may bring up possible hot button issues, please be respectful of your fellow campers when responding.
