WTVOC (unconsciously) made me do it

Sunday June 21, 2015 at 1:31 PM

So, the second half of the first Outlander season has been majory disappointing to me. Thus, 20 years later I have decided to give Pride and Prejudice a try, and actually watch Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy that women have apparently been fantasizing for decades. Anyone in for a rewatch? You can watch any part of it you have time to, and come back to this cf and talk about it. I've watched almost all of the first episode, and it's interesting, but not completely captivating (yet)

Feel free to comment even if it's years since you watched it and don't have the time or interest to watch it again

Upcoming classic fics to read:

Sunday 19 July For the Summer by Camoozle

In the interim weeks, Ruby-Wednesday will be choosing some classic one-shots for those that have not had time to read the longer one

The Music Campfire

Saturday June 20, 2015 at 1:46 PM

Let's talk about some music shall we?

How about favourites? Do you have a favourite band/artist? Someone that you always go back to?

Do you have a band for a certain mood?

Maybe someone new that you know will be a fave? Or someone you've listened to for years and years?

I couldn't pick for the life of me but here's some of them for you:

Love the Black Keys, they've been on repeat since I heard about them, this is one of my favourite songs

also, the Kings of Leon, there's some beautiful music

and for a little bit of rocking out I always love some Green Day but mainly their older stuff ;)

So lets compare favourites ;)

PS: You don't need to post any videos, just come on in and discuss with me

At the Movies

Friday June 19, 2015 at 5:10 PM

Vacations are a time when the family gets together to drive anywhere including each other clinically insane.

Share your favorite vacation movies. (Mine is RV with Robin Williams - the fecal scene is hilarious.)

Crafty Corner 6/19

Friday June 19, 2015 at 5:04 PM

Hello, crafty campers!

One of my favorite things about summer is that all of the herbs, fruits, and vegetables start to grow and ripen. Food just seems to taste better when you've grown a bit of it yourself. I think one of the most rewarding things to grow is herbs - they're easy to care for and don't require much tending beyond a bit of water and a bit of sun, they smell so good, and they can be dried and stored for use year round.

In honor of that, today's tutorial is for Clay Herb Garden Stakes

Come on inside and get the instructions on how to make these pretty and practical markers.

Upcoming:

July 3 ~ Show & Tell Showcase / Ask Me How / Market Place

July 17 ~ Chevron Painted Wall Art

(Late again) Bondfire ~ Sex Ed

Friday June 19, 2015 at 10:19 AM

Hi Campers!

Hopefully this won't be a controversial topic esp as I have to leave for work in a few hours, but I'm sure ADF can discuss this respectfully.

Today's topic is

SEX ED.

How did you learn about the birds and the bees when you were younger?

(Did you even call it that?)

Did you learn about it at home, school, from friends, all three?

If you have kids, how did/how are you going to teach them about sex?

When I was listening to NPR, they said that next week they're having a discussion about the new Sex Ed curriculum that is supposed to go into effect in Canada and the controversies surrounding it.

I admit I don't know much about it except what I just read right now prior to posting this CF.

Here is one link. And I'm sure you can look up more.  There are some links that are one sided so I didn't want to post too many.

I admit that I'm very curious about people's answers.  I talk about sex with my patients (depending on their age) because I want them to know that their doctor's office is a safe place to ask questions.  Plus it's important to have access to care etc.

I also think it's important to keep open communication with your kids early on so they feel safe coming to talk to you later.  More inside.
