..means of course The Pilgrimage and it has been removed from Twilighted and ff net because YES, yesterday I signed a contract with an Italian publisher. Sadly it won't be in print or in e-book form before Feb 2017, but that is their schedule.
It is a standard contract, covering a sales percentage and other royalties if TV or filmakers are interested (I wish). Nothing to get rich from, but at least they are not asking ME for money (many Italian publishers do, as I discovered). They have also the rights to do an English edition, and I hope they do something about it, since it exists in English already. We will see.
It all came to be because I got an agent (he will be paid only if and when I am paid) but he provided a professional editing using an axe - so the story is much shorter now). Evidently it was what was needed to interest a publisher.
So my ugly duckling of a fic got a chance (It is my less successful one for sure. But of course, no Cullens to speak of, only the Volturi and Tanya. Hero and heroine are original characters.) This, however, made it very easy to make the changes necessary to avoid copyright problems. I am very grateful to Raum, Serendipitous and JMolly who helped me to change the plot as far as it was needed. Now the Volturi have gone, and so has Tanya. I have the Amakoi and Raissa instead, with a completely different background.
Remember the many discussions we had on ADF with so many campers berating Icy for pulling and publishing and maintaining that 50 shades was crap, saying at the same time that they had not read it? Well at least I can say that I always defended her choice and that I would do the same, given a chance. I was not sure it would be possible with a vampire fic, but it was (my vampires now don't sparkle but burn in the sun, their canines elongate and they are not the Twilight ones) All the issue is gone now, since so many fanfic authors have published, even vamp stories.
.
As said above I don't expect to get a lot of money from it, but what I wanted was validation, i.e that a real publisher thought my story good enough to sell.
One final thing: I have still The Pilgrimage as it was posted. PM me, in case.
I'd love to hear from you, good and bad.
(I don't know if I am supposed to add a rec, but I don't mind.)
