Song fic post idea thingy

Wednesday November 11, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Hello again.

A while ago somone posted a thread that they asked what movie you wanted to turn into a fic, this is like that just instead of movies, it's songs.

Kapesh?

Don't know if that's how you spell it.

obnoxious ranger edit:

capiche?

Anyway:

Bella falls in love with an umbrella. Do with that what you will.

Edward is fed up with his boring life, politicians lying, a life full of celebrities and media obsessions, and thinks he can do better. The fic is a story of his rise throughout the ranks of the business and world of politics but he has some troubles on the way. He is engaged to his highschool sweetheart (Bella), but like in every story of success, he cheats his way to the top. Sleeping aorund, coming home late, experimenting with drugs, money laundering, etc. Bella supports him everywhere he goes and still loves him, whatever he does, but he doesn't really feel the same anymore. "You can do better, you can be the greatest man in the world."

Some guy character (Jasper/Edward) has always been obsessed with the "strange" beliefs and hobbies. Most of all, the fact of life and death. Then, in high school, he falls for a girl (Alice/Bella/whatever) but she has a boyfriend and blows off all his advances. So, he sets out to destroy them and anyone who gts in his way. After all, if ha can't have her, no one can, right? "I love life, but life has a boyfriend."

Alice can't dance. She is horrible. Jasper see her in a club, "Trying" to dance. He is a dance instructor and kindly asks if she would like his help. Alice has lessons with him for a couple weeks and eventually begins to have feeling for him. Blah, blah blah. They kiss, blah blah. After she gives him a non-commital blowjob, which he was laughing all the way through, she confronts him about the giggling. He then tells her that he is gay.

Just ruined the whole fic right there.

I'll have more, but I can't remember at the mo'.

Stephenie Meyer out of hiding

I don't know if anyone really cares or not...but according to her website. (I just copied it..it was easier this way)

Hi everybody!

I wanted to apprise you all of a few upcoming things.

You know I've been doing the hermit thing this last year, in so far as media is concerned, and I'm not changing that now, but I am making an exception. I'm doing this for a good reason: I am so pleased and amazed and thrilled with what Chris Weitz has done with New Moon that I want to talk about it, and to show my support for him. And since I'm only doing one interview, better make it big. Really big. So....I will be on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday, November 13th. Check the local listings on Oprah's website to find out what time it will be on where you live.

Of course, most of the questions for Oprah will be designed for a broader audience than just die-hard Twilight fans, and I imagine people who read this site and other fansites will already know most of the answers. To rectify this, I'm going to answer your more specific questions on-line. The official Twilight Saga website (www.TheTwilightSaga.com) will be taking any New Moon movie-related questions you might have for me, and then I'll answer those most frequently asked. I'll post the answers on the Twilight Saga website and also here on my own site. Questions can be submitted to TheTwilightSaga.com from noon (Eastern Standard Time) on Monday, November 9th through noon Tuesday, November 10th. The answers will be posted Monday, November 16th—or New Moon Premiere Day, as it is known around my house. (Details about submitting the questions will be posted first thing Monday morning at TheTwilightSaga.com, you can also get more information below.

I'm so very excited that you'll all get to see New Moon in just two weeks! Then you'll see what I'm going on about. Until then, think up some good questions for me.

Love,

Steph

Anyone planning on watching or Tivoing or ???  I am off from work...so if I remember..I may watch.

PS, if this has been posted already ..I am sorry and please feel free to delete it.

We all started somewhere...

Wednesday November 11, 2009 at 8:41 PM

So I’m drunk and I’m bored and I was thinking of how far some of our Twilight actors have come.

Rob attempted modeling

KStew was the panicked asthmatic daughter of Jodie Foster

Nikki used to be a young druggie roaming the streets of L.A.

Billie used to be an alien on Star Trek

Jackson used to…well...

Taylor used to be shark boy

Kellan Lutz used to wear light pink lipstick

A Different Forest used to be green

You get my drift. :) So, please share your first job or one of your craziest.

Way back in the day, I worked at Epcot making funnel cakes. It sucked very much. I went home every night smelling of grease, funnel cake batter, and sweaty tourists blech and I gained at least 10 pounds. But it had perks I could get into the Disney parks for free and watching the seagulls snatch the funnel cakes from tourists was pretty entertaining. Those birds are deadly when it comes to food.

Please share :)

DVR/TiVo Junkies

With New Moon coming out next week (OMG!), there are going to be a lot of cast appearances on talk shows and such.  Does anyone have a compiled list of appearances?  I have found an occasional mention of an appearance here or there, but I wondered if there was a compiled list out there.  I want to set my DVR accordingly....

To Review Here or Elsewhere?

Wednesday November 11, 2009 at 6:00 PM

Campers - have you been reading your favorite fics here, as opposed to Twilighted or FF.net?  I know I'm excited to read "Sanctuary" here, rather than the white on black screen of Twilighted.  However, the number of reviews does sometimes impact the momentum of a story in this fandom.  I feel a little hesitant to leave my review here, rather than FF.net if that's where the story's been accumulating reviews for some time.  On the other hand, I really like the ADF and want to support its endeavors to facilitate conversation between readers and authors.

VIP Authors - I'm guessing you'll say that you love reviews, regardless of where they're located, but what if I'm promising to write a review -- where would you like it sent?  Here, where things feel a bit more intimate, or FF.net/Twilighted, where your review count has been accruing for some time?

UM...

I had no idea what the Twilight Lexicon was...does this make me a bad Twilighter? : (

Seriously, I just went over there because I was reading a psychological look at Twilight and the author kept referencing "TL Personal Correspondence #10."  I thought, "Que, Que?" and clicked over...so I've just spent the last hour reading all of SM's personal correspondence from 3 years ago with, I guess, an admin for that site.  I finally get some of the choices made in FF that I've read!

It was a light bulb moment.

So...onto the campfire question: Is there anything that makes you a bad Twilighter?  Maybe you don't own the books? *gasp* Or maybe you've only seen the movie once?? *double gasp*

Lol, I'm still reeling a bit.

Fandom Age

Wednesday November 11, 2009 at 3:02 PM

I was unable to respond on the "age ain't nothing but a number" thread (which it looks like was deleted) because of the script used in the poll. I kept getting error messages when I tried to post comments. I was able to take the poll itself, but not reply.

So I thought I'd make a thread to discuss it incase anyone else couldn't comment, too.

Here's my input:

There was no option for 15, so I just put "Under 15." I feel like in this fandom, though, age is irrelevant. I've made so many friends in this fandom, ranging in age from 15 to 50! They all treat me the same.

The only thing that annoys me is when people in the fandom tell me I'm too young to be taken seriously. Twilight is a YA novel, and it's not like I go around trolling and flaming.

What do you guys think? Do you care about your fellow twilighters ages?

What makes you take a chance on a fanfic?

Wednesday November 11, 2009 at 9:27 AM

What draws you in to start reading a fanfic?  Is it only a recommendation from a trusted source, like this Web site or other readers/writers you like?

How much does the description matter to you?  Does a great banner or artwork really help?  Are you more inclined to read it if it has a lot of reviews?  Or an NC-17 rating?

I'm curious because I think every writer has to "market" their own story in some way.  In the fanfic world, though, word-of-mouth seems to work best.   If a synopsis has a lot of stupid "will their or won't they" questions, or a ton of typos, I'll mostly likely skip it.  One banner that totally put me off has kept me from reading what's probably a good story.  I don't care so much about the rating.  How about you?
