Escapism or Education? How are you spending your reading hours this week?

Hear this: We are in Seattle and  girl, going home at night after a bad date, is kidnapped by an handsome, super strong guy and brought to a ruined warehouse where a woman bites her, telling the kidnapper they need more soldiers for their army and their mission. After 3 days of excruciating pain she recovers, and lo she is well, but rather thirsrty.. In the warehouse there are many strange and very pale people who often fight and breack eache other in pieces.  Then her kidnapper tells her they will find somebody for her to drink and she is sent hunting with  two other vamps. While traversing Seattle she notices some posters with the photo of the kidnapper, who apparently disappeared  one year before.

When the vamps escorting her start drinking from humans she refuses and escapes. Later on she will meet deer and find a solution for her thirst. I am reading it, but obviously the first chapters are taken straight out of Twilight, while probably the rest is not.She will meet a human guy in Alaska etc etc.

The author is Ariana Parker and Borealis is her first book. I have two questions. Was this story a Twilight fanfiction that you know of? But, more importantly, can one copy part of the plot of a copyrighted book with no consequences? I mean, I am publishing some of my fics,  but you cannot imagine how much I have changed them. Different vampires, different mithology, different locations, different historical times and so on. So I am very curious.

PETA called for a boycott of the movie A Dog's Purpose because apparently they thought that some animal was being abused. It was thrown into the water by it's trainer when it wouldn't go in on its own. (I saw the movie any way and it's really good, but unlike the book in many ways too.) This brings up the question, How are animals actually treated behind the scenes?

Everyone is talking about the SAG awards, but I don't give a crap because I don't watch them.

Every other second Kristen Stewart has a new girlfriend in her life.

Mischa Barton had a public meltdown and is being evaluated for psychiatric treatment, but she says she was drugged. Either way I wish her the best in her recovery whatever is going on.

And speaking of Twilight actors, the news is still obsessed with Robsten, Ashley Greene is engaged so Rob is not the only one, Peter Facinelli is going to direct something, Elizabeth Reaser just starred in that one horror movie Ouija and it probably sucks, (no offense), Kellan Lutz is going to be a ambassador for some style thing, Jackson Rathbone becomes part of the cast for TNT's The Last Ship, and a partridge in a pear tree. 

OH! So apparently we've all been pronouncing Taylor Lautner's name wrong this entire time but after what, 8 years or more?, he's decided to say something.

LOL

Those kids and their post Twilight careers.

Ahem, I also read that a Chinese official said that war with the US might be happening if Trump doesn't get with the program and treat the rest of the world with respect. Go figure, I just got a Mac and we're all gonna die.
