So, because I watch a lot of different youtube channels, I've been seeing a lot about this topic. A lot of my favorite channels (and not just cooking channels) on youtube have been getting sponsored by home delivery meal services. Further more, last year in the US there was even an episode on Masterchef Junior where the winning dish was offered by Blue Apron, which is one such delivery service. 

The US has a ton of these types of services offered, but other countries offer home delivery meal kits as well. In fact one of the more popular ones in US is HelloFresh which is based out of Germany and offers services in multiple countries incluking the UK, Autralia, and Canada. 

For me, the idea of paying for delivered food that I need to cook at home is a bit outlandish, mostly because of the cost. But I live in a big city right next to the ocean where I can get my share of seafood for cheap and in some cases even next to nothing. On top of that there's farmer markets, a multitude of grocery stores, meat markets and other retailers within a handful of miles of where I live.

Not including my two month old daughter who is still on breast milk, there are a total of eight in my house which I have to feed (including myself), and most days, where I live, I can make a full supper for $15 to $20 for all of us. 

But I know there's places that are "food deserts" because their in a rural area or landlocked or any number of other reasons and can't get food as easily, and in those areas I can sort of understand the reasoning behind home delivery services, but even so with the average service costing $6+ per plate the price still seems extremely outlandish to me. 

This does not include the topic of the waste of plastic, etc which I've seen a lot of people complain about. 

So I'm a little curious what other people think on the topic.
